Introducing the Forever Tourist Passport Game

Post by Tor Karlsvalt »

I am pleased to announce that I have enrolled CDS into the Forever Tourist Passport Game. As many of you know we have been a location in the BBB Passport Game for some time. The Forever Tourist version began only last October 1st. Already, it has over 400 locations participating and has important advantages over the BBB game. This game offers a fun way to travel the SL grid, collect some gifts and gain exposure for the CDS.

Basically you download and wear a passport. When you visit a location and click on their kiosk, you receive a stamp in your passport that embeds a URL back to the location. You might also get a gift.

You find locations listed on a spreadsheet which is easily accessed via the list icon at the top of your passport. Forever Tourist nicely categorizes each location on the spreadsheet and provides a small description of the site. Categories include, Educational, Museums, Things to Do, Hangout, um yes Adult too.

Why do we need another passport game?

The BBB game, and that stands for Bellisserian Bureau of Bureaucracy, has a serious shortcoming. The name alone might give you a clue. Only residents who own land on Bellisseria and can prove it as part of a formal application process, are permitted to have a passport. We can put out a location kiosk but not play the game unless we apply for the BBB passport and prove our residency in Bellisseria. Forever Tourist is open to all SL residents.

Feorie Frimon, the manager of Forever Tourist, created a special passport for the CDS. Something else you can not have in the BBB. The passport includes our estate name and our logo. It looks really super!

So far I placed four location kiosks in CDS. They include the Marktplatz , MoCA, Monastery Summit, Colonia Nova PIO office, and Colonia Nova PIO office. I will place a couple more in Alpine Meadow and Locus Amoenus. Lilith will place one in the actual Monastery. Regions can have multiple kiosks as long as each kiosk has its own stamp. The CDS kiosks give out a HUD that gives a notecard with landmarks to the important tourist attractions of the area and the 2016 Info book. Any of you who have a shop or project can participate in the game. You just need to get your own location kiosk. They are free.

Feorie has made us an affiliate to the Forever Tourist game. Thus we have a Casper vendor of our own where you can get the passport HUD and the kiosks. The kiosks are free unless you want one that gifts an object. The paid kiosk is $L250. I have set the kiosk to return my 50% commission. So a kiosk isn’t much money, but if you buy it from our vendor, you should get half your money back. Sweet deal.

How do you start?

I placed the vendor, pictured below, in the Rathaus near the large teleport map. Get your CDS passport from this vendor. If you want the other mainland passports or a generic passport you will have to go to the Forever Tourist HQ or on the marketplace, which is accessible via the Forever Tourist website under Shop.

The Forever Tourist website provides instructions and some excellent YouTube instructional videos.

I have included a picture below showing you my CDS passport, the Casper vendor, and the location of the kiosk I am using in CDS. They have several styles. I am using the rustic kiosk. They have one like the BBB kiosk pictured below and one Japanese kiosk.

I will keep the BBB kiosk on the Platz. It can’t hurt if we have some visitors from Belliseria. However, given the inclusiveness of Forever Tourist I suspect that it will become more popular and better suited to us.

Happy Adventures! Be good ambassadors of the CDS.

Here are the urls for the above. They don't seem to work after I coded them:
