Hanami 2021: Friday, March 12; 11am-12 noon

The "sakura viewing season" is beginning in Japan. The country eagerly anticipates the arrival of the blossoms from the south of Japan to the north. Maps are made predicting the arrival date.
The most junior clerk is sent out with a blanket and hampers of food to hold down a prime spot for his organization. The flowers are beautiful indeed. But at the center of the event is the ephemeral nature of the blossoms, a reminder of transience and mortality.

Our Hanami will take place this Friday, March 12 from 11am to 12 noon SLT in The Garden of Peace. There will be sweets, sushi, tea and sake along with ruminations on the beauty that is so fleeting.
