[12:02] Guillaume Mistwalker: Shall we get started?
[12:03] Laura Azalee: oh yes
[12:03] Guillaume Mistwalker: Did everyone receive the NC I sent out?
[12:03] Laura Azalee: yes
[12:03] Rosie Gray: yes
[12:03] Guillaume Mistwalker: It is what I have been using to track our changes.
[12:03] Rosie Gray: hmmm can't find it though
[12:03] Lyubov Atheria: yes
[12:03] Rosie Gray: can you please give it to me?
[12:04] Guillaume Mistwalker: Sent ㋡
[12:04] Rosie Gray: thanks
[12:04] Guillaume Mistwalker: We had finished at c and d
[12:05] Laura Azalee: b is wrong tho
[12:05] Laura Azalee: it is strada tortuosa
[12:05] Guillaume Mistwalker: Thank you
[12:05] Laura Azalee: not tortuosa strada
[12:05] Rosie Gray updates the notecard
[12:05] Guillaume Mistwalker: So, we had agreed that c and d should be one road
[12:06] Guillaume Mistwalker: Sorry, I'm trying to refresh my memory
[12:07] Laura Azalee: so if c & d are one
[12:07] Laura Azalee: what is the name?
[12:07] Guillaume Mistwalker: Hi Kyoko
[12:07] Rosie Gray: hi Kyoko
[12:07] Laura Azalee: hi Kyoko
[12:07] Guillaume Mistwalker: If C and D are one, the name is Via degli Ulivi
[12:08] Laura Azalee: oh good
[12:08] Laura Azalee: it's a pretty name
[12:08] Kyoko Furse-Barzane (samara.barzane): Hi Gaius
[12:08] Kyoko Furse-Barzane (samara.barzane): sorry I am later
[12:08] Laura Azalee: but we need to place olive trees!
[12:08] Kyoko Furse-Barzane (samara.barzane): sorry I am later
[12:08] Guillaume Mistwalker: The road, as I think Rosie said, has olives
[12:08] Rosie Gray: olive trees for c & d?
[12:08] Laura Azalee: ah ok good
[12:08] Rosie Gray: yes olive trees are there
[12:09] Guillaume Mistwalker: Ok ㋡
[12:09] Guillaume Mistwalker: I'll update that in my notes...
[12:10] Rosie Gray: ㋡
[12:10] Guillaume Mistwalker: Lyubov?
[12:10] Lyubov Atheria: i was just wondering about adding that new "sluice path" that the LUC is working on to the list of items to be named
[12:10] Guillaume Mistwalker: Where is that? By the vineyard?
[12:11] Lyubov Atheria: it's along the stream on the opposite side of LA from here
[12:11] Guillaume Mistwalker: I think Rosie pointed that out to me as one I missed
[12:11] Guillaume Mistwalker: Oh
[12:11] Rosie Gray: oh no I didn't
[12:11] Lyubov Atheria: going from the little bridge in LA over the stream to Monastery lake
[12:11] Rosie Gray: this is something new
[12:11] Lyubov Atheria: yes, brand-new, not yet "RA approved" :)
[12:12] Guillaume Mistwalker: Oh
[12:12] Guillaume Mistwalker: Hm... Perhaps we should address that at a later point, when it is RA approved?
[12:12] Lyubov Atheria: no worries, we have plenty of time for that later :) thank you
[12:12] Guillaume Mistwalker: Thank you for mentioning it
[12:12] Guillaume Mistwalker: But there is a road I missed, and I believe it is the dirt path by the vineyard
[12:13] Rosie Gray: yes
[12:13] Rosie Gray: it connects 1 to f
[12:13] Guillaume Mistwalker: Yes, I'm camming to it
[12:13] Guillaume Mistwalker: I am going to add it to the end of my list here
[12:13] Guillaume Mistwalker: I will call it "g."
[12:14] Guillaume Mistwalker: Before we move on...
[12:14] Guillaume Mistwalker: I want to emphasise that when we consider new names for individual roads this next time, I would like everyone to say what suggestion they like best at the very beginning of the discussion
[12:15] Rosie Gray nods
[12:15] Guillaume Mistwalker: Of course, we can edit the suggestions, but that gives us a sense if we are of a similar mind
[12:15] Guillaume Mistwalker: Let us move on, then, to E
[12:15] Rosie Gray: I would like to know what each of them means first
[12:16] Rosie Gray: without a translation it doesn't help me ㋡
[12:16] Rosie Gray: also, I'm a bit confused, Gaius
[12:16] Laura Azalee: well the first two mean... nothing lol
or better
I guess they mean road of the unfaithful lady and robber's alley?
[12:16] Guillaume Mistwalker: "Street of the Unfaithful/Untrustworthy Woman," "Way of the (Reaper?)," Fisherman's Alley"
[12:17] Rosie Gray: for c & D we seem to not have settled on a name yet?
[12:17] Guillaume Mistwalker: Yes, Rosie?
[12:17] Rosie Gray: or for #1?
[12:17] Rosie Gray: is that correct?
[12:17] Laura Azalee: we HAVE settled rosie
[12:17] Guillaume Mistwalker: We haven't settled on a name for 1
[12:17] Guillaume Mistwalker: For D, we settled on a name
[12:17] Laura Azalee: for c&d
[12:17] Rosie Gray: okay which one then for C&D?
[12:18] Guillaume Mistwalker: But then we concluded at the last meeting that C should eb the same as D
[12:18] Guillaume Mistwalker: Via degli Ulivi
[12:18] Rosie Gray: the notecard has 3 names
[12:18] Rosie Gray: oh... okay I see
[12:18] Guillaume Mistwalker: I have changed my notecard so now C/D reads:
[12:18] Guillaume Mistwalker: "c=d. Via degli Ulivi"
[12:18] Rosie Gray: so have I ㋡
[12:18] Guillaume Mistwalker thinks using Google Docs would be better for this...
[12:19] Rosie Gray: absolutely it would be
[12:19] Rosie Gray: but we're here now ㋡
[12:19] Guillaume Mistwalker: I'll keep that in mind for next time.
[12:19] Guillaume Mistwalker: So, did everyone see the translations Laura and I offered?
[12:20] Rosie Gray: no
[12:20] Guillaume Mistwalker: [12:16] Guillaume Mistwalker: "Street of the Unfaithful/Untrustworthy Woman," "Way of the (Reaper?)," Fisherman's Alley
[12:20] Guillaume Mistwalker: [12:16] Laura Azalee: well the first two mean... nothing lol
or better
I guess they mean road of the unfaithful lady and robber's alley?
[12:20] Laura Azalee: but they are wrong
[12:20] Guillaume Mistwalker: They are ideas, but we can edit them
[12:20] Laura Azalee: so we first need to choose... then translate
[12:20] Guillaume Mistwalker: Yes
[12:20] Guillaume Mistwalker: ㋡
[12:21] Laura Azalee: now is there a reason for the robber and the unfaithful womann?
[12:21] Rosie Gray: I was wondering that too, Laura
[12:22] Guillaume Mistwalker: For the robber, the alley is narrow and winds somewhat
[12:22] Guillaume Mistwalker: Perhaps a good place for a pickpocket?
[12:22] Laura Azalee: Personally I would like Vicolo del rapinatore
[12:22] Guillaume Mistwalker: If I recall correctly an untrustworthy person used to live in those parts
[12:22] Laura Azalee: or dei rapinatori (plural)
[12:22] Kyoko Furse-Barzane (samara.barzane) giggles
[12:23] Kyoko Furse-Barzane (samara.barzane): sorry
[12:23] Kyoko Furse-Barzane (samara.barzane): I'm in IM hell atm
[12:23] Rosie Gray: and that is Way of the Reaper, for meaning?
[12:23] Laura Azalee: infdele is not untrustworthy
[12:23] Guillaume Mistwalker: It is in Latin
[12:23] Laura Azalee: no, way of the robber
[12:23] Guillaume Mistwalker: Yes
[12:23] Guillaume Mistwalker: I like Vicolo dei Rapinatori
[12:24] Laura Azalee: yes me too
[12:24] Guillaume Mistwalker: What do the rest of you like?
[12:24] Rosie Gray: what does it mean?
[12:24] Guillaume Mistwalker: Alley of the Robbers
[12:24] Laura Azalee: read back rosie...
[12:24] Rosie Gray: trying to keep track of it Laura
[12:24] Rosie Gray: sometimes hard to know which is which
[12:24] Rosie Gray: anyway, yes i like that
[12:25] Guillaume Mistwalker: Kyoko, Lyubov?
[12:26] Lyubov Atheria: not a fan of naming things for a robber or a thief. "narrow passageway" is more neutral and how does something simple like that sound, laura?
[12:26] Laura Azalee: well lyubov, sometimes roads keep old names... it was called like that in old times because of a local legend blah blah
[12:27] Laura Azalee: but narrow would be ok for me too
[12:27] Laura Azalee: that would be via stretta
[12:27] Guillaume Mistwalker: We could also name that alley after Bagheera
[12:27] Laura Azalee: I dont agree at all
[12:27] Lyubov Atheria: oh "via stretta" now that sounds simple, reasonable :)
[12:27] Rosie Gray: I would really like to remember Bagheera somewhere here
[12:27] Guillaume Mistwalker: That would be more neutral
[12:27] Rosie Gray: I know it's not an Italian name, but she did a lot here and she cared a lot about the CDS
[12:28] Laura Azalee: I dont agree... bagheera left, if i remember correctly, because she did not agree with local policy
[12:28] Guillaume Mistwalker: She was a Chancellor
[12:28] Laura Azalee: so why should we name a street after her
[12:28] Laura Azalee: well she left us!
[12:28] Rosie Gray: that's true Laura, but she did a lot of work here
[12:28] Rosie Gray: for years
[12:28] Laura Azalee: still
[12:29] Kyoko Furse-Barzane (samara.barzane): And we are not sure that her leaviung was voluntary
[12:29] Rosie Gray: hmmm, well it's not like she was a horrible person or anything
[12:29] Rosie Gray: just because we had disagreements
[12:29] Star (jasmine.lordenwych) is online.
[12:29] Laura Azalee: she did say so in the forum
[12:29] Kyoko Furse-Barzane (samara.barzane): Laura her departure was during unrest in her country
[12:30] Lyubov Atheria: Bags?
[12:30] Laura Azalee: she did not stay because she didnt like CDS privacy polucy
[12:30] Kyoko Furse-Barzane (samara.barzane): We hope she has only lost internet access, but you never know
[12:30] Rosie Gray: Bags is American
[12:30] Lyubov Atheria: Cadence left because of issues we think in Columbia...
[12:30] Guillaume Mistwalker: That is Cadence, yes
[12:30] Kyoko Furse-Barzane (samara.barzane): Oh we are on Bags?
[12:30] Kyoko Furse-Barzane (samara.barzane) shuts up
[12:30] Laura Azalee: sigh
[12:30] Rosie Gray: yes we are talking about Bags
[12:31] Guillaume Mistwalker: I agree with Rosie that her disagreement over our policy with privacy does not rise to the level to need a damnatio memoriae
[12:31] Rosie Gray: I think we have to remember that the naming of roads and places should have some meaning to our community
[12:31] Rosie Gray: not just be pretty names
[12:31] Laura Azalee: ok look... it seems we have different opinions on this
[12:32] Guillaume Mistwalker: It should refer either to an imagined past or a real past
[12:32] Laura Azalee: I dont like, in genrral, naming streets after people who are no loner here but
[12:32] Laura Azalee: Ive been here only two years so
[12:32] Guillaume Mistwalker: That's why I like Laura's suggestion, but also think maybe naming it after Bagheera would be appropriate
[12:32] Laura Azalee: I'll leave it to you
[12:33] Laura Azalee: you choose the street names
[12:33] Guillaume Mistwalker: Should we vote, perhaps, on these two names?
[12:33] Guillaume Mistwalker: We are five people
[12:33] Laura Azalee: send me a NC with the street name you have chosen
[12:33] Rosie Gray: we still need your input, Laura!
[12:33] Laura Azalee: and i will translate
[12:33] Laura Azalee: I do not want to waste time arguing on a road name
[12:34] Laura Azalee: and I dont want to vote on eah one
[12:34] Lyubov Atheria: if this is controversial, should we move on to another road for now?
[12:34] Laura Azalee: so like i said,
[12:34] Laura Azalee: you choose, i translate
[12:35] Guillaume Mistwalker: I will put both down.
[12:35] Guillaume Mistwalker: We can return to it later.
[12:36] Guillaume Mistwalker: If you don't want to take part in the tedious work, as I know it is tedious, you don't have to stay, Laura. I can send you a NC later and ask for your help in making the names appropriate, even with changes
[12:36] Laura Azalee: thats exactly my idea Gllaume.. it's not "tedious" - it's driving me nuts
[12:36] Laura Azalee: so - just send me the ENGLISH names for the roads
[12:36] Laura Azalee: and i'll translate
[12:36] Guillaume Mistwalker: Ok
[12:37] Guillaume Mistwalker: I will do that
[12:37] Guillaume Mistwalker: Thank you for your help, Laura
[12:37] Laura Azalee: see you guys!
[12:37] Kyoko Furse-Barzane (samara.barzane): Thank you Lauras
[12:37] Rosie Gray: thanks Laura
[12:37] Guillaume Mistwalker: ㋡
[12:37] Guillaume Mistwalker: Ok
[12:38] Guillaume Mistwalker: Do we have opinions on E?
[12:38] Guillaume Mistwalker: Do we want "Alley of the Robbers" or "Bagheera Kristan's Alley"?
[12:38] Rosie Gray: I vote for Bagheera
[12:38] Guillaume Mistwalker: Lyubov?
[12:39] Guillaume Mistwalker: Kyoko?
[12:39] Kyoko Furse-Barzane (samara.barzane): Bags
[12:39] Lyubov Atheria: Bags sounds better than Robbers
[12:39] Guillaume Mistwalker: Ok
[12:39] Guillaume Mistwalker: F?
[12:39] Kyoko Furse-Barzane (samara.barzane): (we need a garden path named Rosie's Posies :)
[12:39] Guillaume Mistwalker: Shall I attempt to translate them?
[12:41] Guillaume Mistwalker: "Transitory Road," "View on the River," "Erato's Meander," Course of the (Vine)?"
[12:41] Guillaume Mistwalker: Do we have preferences?
[12:42] Lyubov Atheria: everyone likes a River View
[12:42] Rosie Gray: Transitory road sounds kind of dismissive
[12:42] Enzo Spinelli (macskelder) is offline.
[12:42] Guillaume Mistwalker: I like something with vines, and we could combine F with the road I missed, G
[12:43] Rosie Gray: it doesn't end where the other road starts though
[12:43] Guillaume Mistwalker: No, you're right
[12:43] Guillaume Mistwalker: Ach, sorry, vigneto means vineyard.
[12:43] Ani Seitan is offline.
[12:43] Rosie Gray: i think the other road would be appropriate for vines, since we always seem to have vineyards there
[12:43] Guillaume Mistwalker: Ok
[12:43] Guillaume Mistwalker: So, F...
[12:44] Guillaume Mistwalker: Via Vista?
[12:44] Rosie Gray: what does Vista sul Fiume mean? is that a water view?
[12:44] Guillaume Mistwalker: "View Road"?
[12:44] Guillaume Mistwalker: Vista sul Fiume is trying to say "View on the River," I think
[12:44] Rosie Gray: that's kind of nice
[12:45] Guillaume Mistwalker: As Laura has pointed out, though, that's not necessary a road name in Italian
[12:45] Guillaume Mistwalker: But I do like it
[12:45] Rosie Gray: Are Italian road names very strict?
[12:46] Kyoko Furse-Barzane (samara.barzane): ermmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
[12:46] Guillaume Mistwalker: I am not sure, of course, but it seems so
[12:46] Rosie Gray: seems like they must be
[12:46] Guillaume Mistwalker: Though I also think that "View on the River" is also not a road name in English, either
[12:47] Guillaume Mistwalker: And "Riverview Road" would be hard because Italian doesn't necessarily have the ability to compound words, I don't think
[12:47] Rosie Gray: we could shorten to River Road
[12:47] Guillaume Mistwalker: As easily as in English, I don't think
[12:48] Guillaume Mistwalker: Via Fiume?
[12:49] Lyubov Atheria: i don't know how that works in proper italian, but the concept is good and a very common name, "river road"
[12:49] Guillaume Mistwalker: Or maybe Via Riva, which is a homophone in English with "river" but means "bank" or "shore"
[12:49] Rosie Gray: why not just give Laura 'River Road' to translate?
[12:49] Guillaume Mistwalker: Ok
[12:49] Lyubov Atheria: sounds good :)
[12:50] Kyoko Furse-Barzane (samara.barzane): works for me
[12:50] Guillaume Mistwalker: Thank you, Rosie
[12:50] Lyubov Atheria: can even be fancy, "rhenus river road" see if she can get us some alliteration too :)
[12:50] Guillaume Mistwalker: Hahaha
[12:50] Guillaume Mistwalker: Let us move onto G, the road I missed, which is the path that is near the vineyards
[12:51] Guillaume Mistwalker: We could have something like Via degli Ulivi, instead with maybe "Road of the Vines"?
[12:51] Lyubov Atheria: well, i wouldn't try to figure out the italian, let laura do that part...
[12:52] Rosie Gray: yes I agree with that, Lyubov
