[2024/03/30 10:05] Moon Adamant: oh
[2024/03/30 10:05] Almut Brunswick: I must abstain when I don't have the agenda. You are too fast!
[2024/03/30 10:05] Rosie Gray: oh Almut and Sandy, you can look at the Agenda on the forum if you can't see the prim

[2024/03/30 10:06] Rosie Gray: nicely captured by Lilith, I think
[2024/03/30 10:06] Moon Adamant: i agree ㋡
[2024/03/30 10:07] Sudane Erato: ahh... yes... i thoughti'd seen them

[2024/03/30 10:07] Almut Brunswick: aye
[2024/03/30 10:08] Sandy Burgess: I abstain because I was not here
[2024/03/30 10:08] Sudane Erato: we'll forgive you :)
[2024/03/30 10:08] Almut Brunswick: me neither, but it sounds reasonable
[2024/03/30 10:08] Almut Brunswick: I was on a ball in RL
[2024/03/30 10:08] Moon Adamant: ㋡
[2024/03/30 10:08] Rosie Gray: ㋡
[2024/03/30 10:08] Rosie Gray: Mizou?
[2024/03/30 10:09] Mizou Vavoom: aye
[2024/03/30 10:09] Sandy Burgess: /me smiles. I am relieved.
[2024/03/30 10:09] Rosie Gray: motion carried
[2024/03/30 10:09] Rosie Gray: okay, old business
[2024/03/30 10:09] Rosie Gray: I'm still working on the signs ㋡
[2024/03/30 10:10] Sudane Erato: i see the one here!
[2024/03/30 10:10] Rosie Gray: got waylaid by going on holiday
[2024/03/30 10:10] Rosie Gray: yes that is a sample
[2024/03/30 10:10] Rosie Gray: I've got a few more around so far
[2024/03/30 10:10] Rosie Gray: CN, Monastery, NFS
[2024/03/30 10:10] Sudane Erato: i think they look neat! :)
[2024/03/30 10:10] Rosie Gray: thanks ㋡
[2024/03/30 10:11] Moon Adamant: they look VERY neat ㋡
[2024/03/30 10:11] Sandy Burgess: They look great
[2024/03/30 10:11] Rosie Gray: okay,, 3.2 Staging of Parcels
[2024/03/30 10:11] Rosie Gray: I was hoping Tor would be here for this
[2024/03/30 10:11] Almut Brunswick: I haven't seen him for weeks
[2024/03/30 10:11] Moon Adamant: maybe we could come back to the point later?
[2024/03/30 10:12] Rosie Gray: he was online a bit earlier and said he'd come
[2024/03/30 10:12] Rosie Gray: yes let's do that
[2024/03/30 10:12] Rosie Gray: 3.3 Cable Car
[2024/03/30 10:12] Rosie Gray: yay to finally getting to this!
[2024/03/30 10:12] Sandy Burgess: He was here yesterday
[2024/03/30 10:12] Sudane Erato: Yay... cable car!
[2024/03/30 10:12] Moon Adamant: ok, i missed the previous discussion on it, will be glad
[2024/03/30 10:12] Rosie Gray: Sandy is up
[2024/03/30 10:13] Moon Adamant: one minute, brb
[2024/03/30 10:13] Sandy Burgess: I have been neglecting it a bit but have solved some major problems. Next thing is I need some kind of prototype and a kick to get started.
[2024/03/30 10:13] Sudane Erato: here's a kick! :)
[2024/03/30 10:13] Rosie Gray: :D
[2024/03/30 10:13] Mizou Vavoom: ok i can work on that Sandy
[2024/03/30 10:14] Mizou Vavoom: th eprototype
[2024/03/30 10:14] Sandy Burgess: What? the kick or the prototype (@Mizou)
[2024/03/30 10:14] Mizou Vavoom: lol
[2024/03/30 10:14] Rosie Gray: /me laughs
[2024/03/30 10:14] Sandy Burgess: Ah
[2024/03/30 10:14] Sudane Erato: hehe
[2024/03/30 10:14] Sudane Erato: searching for a kick in my inventory...
[2024/03/30 10:14] Mizou Vavoom: lol
[2024/03/30 10:15] Sandy Burgess: Especially the ropes I will need to see the curve I have to cover unless we go straight lines
[2024/03/30 10:15] Sudane Erato: lol :)
[2024/03/30 10:15] Mizou Vavoom: Sandy what would you see as a basic prototype?
[2024/03/30 10:15] Sudane Erato: oh!... Sandy..
[2024/03/30 10:15] Mizou Vavoom: do we need curves?
[2024/03/30 10:15] Sudane Erato: I have electric lines which could servive as ropes
[2024/03/30 10:16] Sudane Erato: they are curved
[2024/03/30 10:16] Rosie Gray: that sounds promising, Sudane
[2024/03/30 10:16] Sandy Burgess: I can work with prims but since you showed me a plugin that makes the hanging lines I would have to follow them
[2024/03/30 10:16] Moon Adamant: back, sorry
[2024/03/30 10:16] Mizou Vavoom: wb Moon
[2024/03/30 10:16] Almut Brunswick: I once made catenary masts for a video in Blender
[2024/03/30 10:16] Almut Brunswick: But I'm not sure if they would serve the purpose
[2024/03/30 10:17] Rosie Gray: /me wonders what a catenary mast is
[2024/03/30 10:17] Mizou Vavoom: me too wonders same
[2024/03/30 10:17] Almut Brunswick: The overhead power supply for trams
[2024/03/30 10:17] Rosie Gray: aah
[2024/03/30 10:17] Sandy Burgess: The German translation makes sense grins
[2024/03/30 10:17] Mizou Vavoom: ah
[2024/03/30 10:17] Sudane Erato: Rosie, its the tower that holds the lines
[2024/03/30 10:17] Moon Adamant: /me finds it curious that it's the same word ㋡
[2024/03/30 10:17] Sudane Erato: makes sense to me :)
[2024/03/30 10:17] Rosie Gray: ㋡
[2024/03/30 10:18] Rosie Gray: starting to sound like a group project
[2024/03/30 10:18] Almut Brunswick: Well, tower is a big word for a mast or pole
[2024/03/30 10:18] Sudane Erato: perfect!
[2024/03/30 10:18] Sandy Burgess: Since the most I did with blender is install it I am completely dependend on you making these things. Once I have a prototype I can start working on the details
[2024/03/30 10:18] Almut Brunswick: May I modestly state that I already have made a couple of Blender videos with trams and stuff?
[2024/03/30 10:18] Sudane Erato: well, there do exist FP towers and electric lines
[2024/03/30 10:19] Mizou Vavoom: so the mast is the first thing that you need Sandy?
[2024/03/30 10:19] Sudane Erato: and they could easily be adapted
[2024/03/30 10:19] Sandy Burgess: The masts and the ropes ... be them straight or hanging
[2024/03/30 10:19] Almut Brunswick: Or custom-built
[2024/03/30 10:19] Moon Adamant: the electric lines are fine, you can see them on Amiais
[2024/03/30 10:19] Almut Brunswick: I think Sandy and I should meet separately to get the idea
[2024/03/30 10:19] Rosie Gray: may I suggest that we form a sub-committee to work on this?
[2024/03/30 10:19] Sandy Burgess: The gondola I can simulate with prims
[2024/03/30 10:19] Mizou Vavoom: woul dyou have a photo of a design Sandy?
[2024/03/30 10:20] Almut Brunswick: Good point
[2024/03/30 10:20] Sandy Burgess: That depends on what look we want to achieve. I would prefer something historic stuff looking a bit used.
[2024/03/30 10:21] Sandy Burgess: But as I said I am not a Blender
[2024/03/30 10:21] Almut Brunswick: Cable car could be also such a vessel like in San Francisco, but I assume you mean a funicular
[2024/03/30 10:21] Rosie Gray: something historic looking would work best in our regions
[2024/03/30 10:21] Mizou Vavoom: Blender i sno problem as long as i have a design
[2024/03/30 10:22] Sandy Burgess: If I remember right you had found some stuff when discussed this topic last year, Mizou. You showed me a few things.
[2024/03/30 10:22] Moon Adamant: i am looking at catenary masts and they are reallylinear
[2024/03/30 10:23] Sandy Burgess: The masts should be made as a metal grid construction - concrete does not fit the time
[2024/03/30 10:23] Moon Adamant: there's some with wheels
[2024/03/30 10:23] Almut Brunswick: Right
[2024/03/30 10:23] Mizou Vavoom: yes i do have a cable car design but not usre about the actual tower
[2024/03/30 10:23] Mizou Vavoom: i need to check
[2024/03/30 10:23] Sudane Erato: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/NO ... R/16492212
[2024/03/30 10:23] Almut Brunswick: But we need to construct them reasonably: Metal grid may be "heavy" in respect on LI when it is not made well
[2024/03/30 10:24] Sandy Burgess: Yes but they have short distances and quites some tension - would not look too realistic. though the cable cars I saw so far use straight lines for simplicity
[2024/03/30 10:24] Mizou Vavoom: hehe Sudane that would be the easy way out, nice one
[2024/03/30 10:24] Sandy Burgess: I leave that discussion to Mizou and Almut
[2024/03/30 10:24] Sudane Erato: hehe... it IS neat looking :)
[2024/03/30 10:24] Almut Brunswick: That thing on MP looks very heavy and more like a Steampunk item
[2024/03/30 10:25] Sandy Burgess: Yeah - we need to repair that
[2024/03/30 10:25] Agatha Macbeth: Cathy :)
[2024/03/30 10:25] Rosie Gray: hi Cathy ㋡
[2024/03/30 10:25] Moon Adamant: have a look
[2024/03/30 10:25] Moon Adamant: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ ... 3ria_9.JPG
[2024/03/30 10:25] Mizou Vavoom: It says 'broken cable care' so wonder what part is broken??
[2024/03/30 10:25] Moon Adamant: hi Cathy ㋡
[2024/03/30 10:25] Sudane Erato: Moon, those are trams
[2024/03/30 10:25] Moon Adamant: that pic shows wrought iron catenaries
[2024/03/30 10:25] Sudane Erato: for the ground
[2024/03/30 10:25] Almut Brunswick: See, that example is not "floating", but similar to San Francisco with rails
[2024/03/30 10:25] Sandy Burgess: We are talking about hanging cable cars not those with rails - the word has a double meaning
[2024/03/30 10:26] Sudane Erato: we need something hanging
[2024/03/30 10:26] Almut Brunswick: Yes
[2024/03/30 10:26] Sudane Erato: exactly... yes
[2024/03/30 10:26] Rosie Gray: Cathy, the Agenda is on a prim on the wall, behind Sandy and Sudane
[2024/03/30 10:26] Almut Brunswick: Hence my previous comment
[2024/03/30 10:26] Cathy Sabre: is offline.
[2024/03/30 10:26] Moon Adamant: well, then you'll have to have the LI ㋡
[2024/03/30 10:26] Cathy Sabre: is online.
[2024/03/30 10:26] Sudane Erato: do we have a start and end point?
[2024/03/30 10:27] Rosie Gray: that's a good question
[2024/03/30 10:27] Almut Brunswick: We should mark them with prims to get an idea where the route needs to be set, and how many masts we will need
[2024/03/30 10:27] Sandy Burgess: We do not need any physics - the stuff can be simple blocks re the physics
[2024/03/30 10:27] Rosie Gray: and also, please remember that the project needs to be posted on the forums, with details, so that the citizens have a chance to comment and make any objections
[2024/03/30 10:28] Moon Adamant: I thought we had studied a path before
[2024/03/30 10:28] Mizou Vavoom: ok
[2024/03/30 10:28] Sandy Burgess: I did that last year when we had a tour but you was not there on that meeting
[2024/03/30 10:28] Rosie Gray: wb, Cathy
[2024/03/30 10:28] Sudane Erato: in case they don't want the cables hanging over their parcels :)
[2024/03/30 10:28] Mizou Vavoom: hi Cathy
[2024/03/30 10:28] Rosie Gray: yes, exactly
[2024/03/30 10:28] Almut Brunswick: very likely. Is it documented somewhere?
[2024/03/30 10:28] Moon Adamant: i don't know
[2024/03/30 10:28] Cathy Sabre: BAK
[2024/03/30 10:28] Rosie Gray: or see the wires in their views
[2024/03/30 10:28] Sandy Burgess: I actually still have the prims with the positions so I can set it up again
[2024/03/30 10:28] Almut Brunswick: Then we need to mark the route anew anyway
[2024/03/30 10:28] Agatha Macbeth: WB
[2024/03/30 10:28] Almut Brunswick: Yes please
[2024/03/30 10:29] Moon Adamant: in fact, i recall that there was some issue about trhe thing enetering Monastery sim
[2024/03/30 10:29] Tor Karlsvalt: is online.
[2024/03/30 10:29] Sandy Burgess: And I tried to find a rout that does not go over private ground
[2024/03/30 10:29] Almut Brunswick: Well, they have to pay their share for the technical progress... smirks
[2024/03/30 10:29] Moon Adamant: the thing entering*
[2024/03/30 10:29] Sudane Erato: hehe
[2024/03/30 10:29] Rosie Gray: have a seat, Cathy ㋡
[2024/03/30 10:29] Sandy Burgess: Yes we may have to find a way around Monastery
[2024/03/30 10:30] Agatha Macbeth: (Maybe can't see them yet)
[2024/03/30 10:30] Almut Brunswick: Around? I thought that Monastery is the destination
[2024/03/30 10:30] Rosie Gray: what about basically following the road up?
[2024/03/30 10:30] Mizou Vavoom: https://gyazo.com/708f11c63a010b560c3bbe51734decc2
[2024/03/30 10:30] Mizou Vavoom: this is what i proposed last year
[2024/03/30 10:30] Moon Adamant: i think then that's the first task
[2024/03/30 10:30] Sudane Erato: the road is very turney
[2024/03/30 10:30] Sudane Erato: (thats a technical term)
[2024/03/30 10:30] Moon Adamant: go up the waterfall gorge?
[2024/03/30 10:30] Almut Brunswick: Looks nice, Mizou
[2024/03/30 10:30] Sandy Burgess: The connection started at the bridge at CN and ended somewhere near the hang glider dispenser in NF
[2024/03/30 10:30] Mizou Vavoom: https://gyazo.com/7d941f62eeae224a89ff30e82566690b
[2024/03/30 10:31] Almut Brunswick: It shouldn't be too big
[2024/03/30 10:31] Rosie Gray: yes, but doesn't need to make all the turns, just go up over them
[2024/03/30 10:31] Moon Adamant: it would make for a more linear route and the land is common land
[2024/03/30 10:31] Almut Brunswick: That is also easier for scripting
[2024/03/30 10:31] Sandy Burgess: I can set up the route again for next meeting and we can make a tour again
[2024/03/30 10:31] Almut Brunswick: Yes please
[2024/03/30 10:31] Moon Adamant: AM waterfall, that i -- not Monastery
[2024/03/30 10:32] Sudane Erato: but Monastery has no prims
[2024/03/30 10:32] Sudane Erato: oh!
[2024/03/30 10:32] Rosie Gray: yeah, Monastery is out
[2024/03/30 10:32] Sudane Erato: ok
[2024/03/30 10:32] Rosie Gray: oh hmmm, personally I would not like to see it right beside or over the waterfall
[2024/03/30 10:32] Sandy Burgess: Ok - I make the route for next meeting and we make a field tour? ... and perhaps we even have some prototypes
[2024/03/30 10:33] Almut Brunswick: Good
[2024/03/30 10:33] Mizou Vavoom: i can make a basic cable car
[2024/03/30 10:33] Sandy Burgess: And then we can discuss detaisl
[2024/03/30 10:33] Mizou Vavoom: for next time
[2024/03/30 10:33] Sudane Erato: good!
[2024/03/30 10:33] Rosie Gray: sounds good!
[2024/03/30 10:33] Almut Brunswick: What about two machine houses for boarding and moving the cable?
[2024/03/30 10:33] Mizou Vavoom: when would be next meeting?
[2024/03/30 10:33] Almut Brunswick: One in the valley, the other on top
[2024/03/30 10:34] Tor Karlsvalt: entered chat range (2.69 m).
[2024/03/30 10:34] Rosie Gray: we haven't decided that yet, Mizou
[2024/03/30 10:34] Sandy Burgess: Yes - we need at least one machine house and one station to get in and out
[2024/03/30 10:34] Agatha Macbeth: Here's the Chancellor!
[2024/03/30 10:34] Rosie Gray: yay, hi tor
[2024/03/30 10:34] Almut Brunswick: Woot woot
[2024/03/30 10:34] Moon Adamant: hi Tor ㋡
[2024/03/30 10:34] Mizou Vavoom: Hi Chancellor!
[2024/03/30 10:34] Tor Karlsvalt: Hi all, was having a world of trouble logging on
[2024/03/30 10:34] Sandy Burgess: I will be travelling from mid of May to mid of June ... a bit time to go but won't be here much in that time
[2024/03/30 10:34] Tor Karlsvalt: /me waits for the laps to rezz
[2024/03/30 10:35] Rosie Gray: the Agenda is on a prim on the wall behind Sudane and Sandy
[2024/03/30 10:35] Almut Brunswick: /me whistles the boatswain pipe: "Chancellor aboard!"
[2024/03/30 10:35] Tor Karlsvalt: hehe
[2024/03/30 10:35] Rosie Gray: and we are just finishing up item 3.3
[2024/03/30 10:35] onionpencil Musashi: is online.
[2024/03/30 10:36] Tor Karlsvalt: ok thanks
[2024/03/30 10:36] Rosie Gray: anything more for the cable car discussion?
[2024/03/30 10:36] Sandy Burgess: /me sits more upright and suppresses her usual blasphemous remarks
[2024/03/30 10:36] Rosie Gray: hehe
[2024/03/30 10:36] Mizou Vavoom: :)
[2024/03/30 10:36] Tor Karlsvalt: :)
[2024/03/30 10:37] Rosie Gray: okay seems we are done with that for now
[2024/03/30 10:37] Rosie Gray: let's go back to 3.2
[2024/03/30 10:37] Rosie Gray: Staging of parcels
[2024/03/30 10:37] Rosie Gray: looks like Lilith doesn't have time to make the texture for the text on those signs
[2024/03/30 10:37] Moon Adamant: do we have a text?
[2024/03/30 10:38] Rosie Gray: not specifically
[2024/03/30 10:38] Moon Adamant: you wrote something on teh agenda...
[2024/03/30 10:38] Rosie Gray: "Keep this house and use it, or return it and use your own"
[2024/03/30 10:38] Rosie Gray: we can use that
[2024/03/30 10:38] Moon Adamant: yes, thanks ㋡
[2024/03/30 10:39] Moon Adamant: yes, i was going to ask if it would be good
[2024/03/30 10:39] Rosie Gray: plus a 'touch for more information'
[2024/03/30 10:39] Moon Adamant: i can make this texture, should be quick
[2024/03/30 10:39] Moon Adamant: ok
[2024/03/30 10:39] Rosie Gray: so we don't have hovertext
[2024/03/30 10:39] Rosie Gray: and all of the info inside those signs needs updating
[2024/03/30 10:40] Rosie Gray: maybe Tor should have a look?
[2024/03/30 10:40] Rosie Gray: I wrote them ages ago when I was Chancellor
[2024/03/30 10:41] Rosie Gray: Tor?
[2024/03/30 10:41] Tor Karlsvalt: sure
[2024/03/30 10:41] Tor Karlsvalt: fumbles for the agenda, sorry
[2024/03/30 10:41] Moon Adamant: could we have less info? For example, giving links to the website for the covenants, etc?
[2024/03/30 10:41] Rosie Gray: we discussed the need for some signs so that people know they don't have to keep staged buildings
[2024/03/30 10:41] Moon Adamant: more compact information?
[2024/03/30 10:42] Tor Karlsvalt: Less is usually more imo.
[2024/03/30 10:42] Moon Adamant: (also then you just need to update the website)
[2024/03/30 10:42] Tor Karlsvalt: especially when signs get dated.
[2024/03/30 10:42] Second Life: CDS For Sale Sign - NFS specific Feb/16 owned by secondlife:///app/agent/2ab07758-e2e4-4 ... e0e6/about gave you <nolink>'CDS For Sale Sign - NFS specific Feb/16</nolink>' ( http://slurl.com/secondlife/Neufreistadt/243/238/176 ).
[2024/03/30 10:42] Moon Adamant: ehehe old texture on that one ㋡
[2024/03/30 10:43] Rosie Gray: yes, just wanted to see the contents
[2024/03/30 10:44] Rosie Gray: there was one for each region
[2024/03/30 10:44] Moon Adamant: yes, the signs hand out 3 NCs
[2024/03/30 10:44] Tor Karlsvalt: I don't think the sign should reference any house to keep or return.
[2024/03/30 10:44] Tor Karlsvalt: Not all parcels will have a house on them.
[2024/03/30 10:45] Moon Adamant: i know because i set a few in my term to see how they would be working nowadays
[2024/03/30 10:45] Sudane Erato: there might be a script function which can detect the region name, and modify the URL to which the clicker is dired
[2024/03/30 10:45] Rosie Gray: well it would only be for the ones with houses
[2024/03/30 10:45] Sudane Erato: that way you'd need only 1
[2024/03/30 10:45] Tor Karlsvalt: Good idea Sudane
[2024/03/30 10:45] Sandy Burgess: There is @Sudane
[2024/03/30 10:45] Rosie Gray: we talked about last time how people may not realize that they don't need to keep a staged building
[2024/03/30 10:46] Sudane Erato: I thought so Sandy... we need to modify the URL giver
[2024/03/30 10:46] Tor Karlsvalt: True, but such a sign would not be good for NFS town or much of CN and LA.
[2024/03/30 10:46] Rosie Gray: then you wouldn't use them there! hehe
[2024/03/30 10:46] Sandy Burgess: I remember I have used that function but it has been a while
[2024/03/30 10:48] Moon Adamant: could we add a line: "Step into the house and buy from About Land"? I notice that often I have to tell new citizens to do just that
[2024/03/30 10:48] Moon Adamant: specially where parcel lines are not very visible
[2024/03/30 10:48] Sudane Erato: that's assuming they know what About Land is :()
[2024/03/30 10:48] Rosie Gray: yes, like the fishing villages
[2024/03/30 10:48] Tor Karlsvalt: yeah
[2024/03/30 10:48] Rosie Gray: but I think that a different kind of sign would be better for those situations
[2024/03/30 10:49] Rosie Gray: something that you hang on the house, like a real estate sign
[2024/03/30 10:49] Sandy Burgess: Perhaps we should make a video that shows how to buy land in CDS
[2024/03/30 10:49] Moon Adamant: well, yes, i sometimes have to tell them all about About Land :-D
[2024/03/30 10:49] Tor Karlsvalt: Seems people are not familiar with about land. It's the renter culture
[2024/03/30 10:49] Rosie Gray: /me nods
[2024/03/30 10:49] Sudane Erato: hmmm... people DO seem to like videos
[2024/03/30 10:49] Rosie Gray: interesting idea
[2024/03/30 10:49] Moon Adamant: we could have the video on our website and link to it too
[2024/03/30 10:50] Sandy Burgess: I remember I first rented the place before buying it when I got my first parcel here
[2024/03/30 10:50] Tor Karlsvalt: Yeah, LOL, we should explore using tiktok
[2024/03/30 10:50] Mizou Vavoom: yes excellent idea
[2024/03/30 10:50] Mizou Vavoom: not tiktok lol
[2024/03/30 10:50] Rosie Gray: not tiktok
[2024/03/30 10:50] Sudane Erato: They'll ban Tiktok soon in the US :)
[2024/03/30 10:50] Sandy Burgess: no - use youtube and hand out a hud with moap
[2024/03/30 10:50] Tor Karlsvalt: Become part of the Red Chinese plan to take over the world, but as an instructor of mine once said, "Better Red than Dead."
[2024/03/30 10:50] Sudane Erato: hehe
[2024/03/30 10:51] Sudane Erato: Tor, that'
[2024/03/30 10:51] Agatha Macbeth: /me blinks
[2024/03/30 10:51] Moon Adamant: you can do that too with the sign, Sandy
[2024/03/30 10:51] Sudane Erato: s a VERY old expression :)
[2024/03/30 10:51] Sandy Burgess: Yes, Moon
[2024/03/30 10:51] Tor Karlsvalt: yeah, well I am getting old
[2024/03/30 10:51] Agatha Macbeth: Who isn't?
[2024/03/30 10:51] Sandy Burgess: The problem with that expression is that I probably would be dead rather quick ... being a non conformist
[2024/03/30 10:51] Moon Adamant: ok hmmm
[2024/03/30 10:52] Tor Karlsvalt: :)
[2024/03/30 10:52] Rosie Gray: so seems like there are a few issues with signs, but we initially were addressing the issue of staged buildings
[2024/03/30 10:52] Sudane Erato: hehe
[2024/03/30 10:52] Almut Brunswick: Another old quote from the Cold War is: "Visit Russia - before Russia visit you!"
[2024/03/30 10:52] Moon Adamant: well, yes, i need to know what to write on the sign lol
[2024/03/30 10:52] Sudane Erato: well, the key principle is to stage the parcels, but not the insides of the buildings
[2024/03/30 10:52] Rosie Gray: yes
[2024/03/30 10:53] Moon Adamant: because, you see, if we do a video, then the video can tell you also about trashing the house or not
[2024/03/30 10:53] Rosie Gray: and that people realize they don't need to keep the staging
[2024/03/30 10:53] Almut Brunswick: So no apartment houses
[2024/03/30 10:53] Sudane Erato: so that people undertsnd it is staged
[2024/03/30 10:53] Moon Adamant: yes!
[2024/03/30 10:53] Rosie Gray: Almut, it's only for the staged parcels, not anything that is anchored
[2024/03/30 10:53] Moon Adamant: i must say to this respect that for two years I thought the boat parcels in LA were owned
[2024/03/30 10:54] Mizou Vavoom: sorry everyone i have a class to attend
[2024/03/30 10:54] Tor Karlsvalt: bye Mizou
[2024/03/30 10:54] Rosie Gray: bye Mizou, thanks for coming
[2024/03/30 10:54] Agatha Macbeth: Blend well Miz
[2024/03/30 10:54] Sudane Erato: bye Mizou :))
[2024/03/30 10:54] Moon Adamant: because it was all so complete (and they did hide the signs)
[2024/03/30 10:54] Sandy Burgess: Have a nice evening
[2024/03/30 10:54] Moon Adamant: cheers Mizou ㋡
[2024/03/30 10:54] Mizou Vavoom: :) it is a PBR class
[2024/03/30 10:54] Rosie Gray: yes I agree with you Moon
[2024/03/30 10:54] Mizou Vavoom: see you all
[2024/03/30 10:55] Rosie Gray: same with some of the inside staging in other buildings
[2024/03/30 10:55] Rosie Gray: they are so complete
[2024/03/30 10:55] Rosie Gray: they give the impression that they are occupied
[2024/03/30 10:55] Moon Adamant: yes
[2024/03/30 10:55] Tor Karlsvalt: Yeah, possibly
[2024/03/30 10:55] Moon Adamant: also, some eople do not see theCasper signs
[2024/03/30 10:56] Tor Karlsvalt: I notice that estates seem to have rather big signs on parcels
[2024/03/30 10:56] Sandy Burgess: We could put ghost boats there ... half transparent
[2024/03/30 10:56] Tor Karlsvalt: Some have palm trees
[2024/03/30 10:56] Sudane Erato: that's cause people are blind
[2024/03/30 10:56] Moon Adamant: i know, because i have been asked if there are parcels for sale at CDS! o.O
[2024/03/30 10:56] Rosie Gray: yes and seems there are people who don't know to look on the maps for yellow
[2024/03/30 10:56] Moon Adamant: so if you see a house that's full and you don't see a For Sale sign...
[2024/03/30 10:57] Rosie Gray: exactly
[2024/03/30 10:57] Tor Karlsvalt: Right,
[2024/03/30 10:57] Sudane Erato: Rosie... omg... no body understands maps and yellow
[2024/03/30 10:57] Sandy Burgess: It always surprises me how many people with quite old avatars know really very little about any technical stuff in SL
[2024/03/30 10:57] Sudane Erato: agreed!
[2024/03/30 10:57] Rosie Gray: me too, Sandy! it's quite astonishing
[2024/03/30 10:57] Moon Adamant: info-excluded ㋡
[2024/03/30 10:57] Agatha Macbeth: /me looks innocent
[2024/03/30 10:57] Sudane Erato: that's why we should really push use of the new HUD
[2024/03/30 10:57] Tor Karlsvalt: Well everything is rented nowadays, and in rl, Siri tells you were to go.
[2024/03/30 10:57] Moon Adamant: metaverse-excluded, even ㋡
[2024/03/30 10:58] Tor Karlsvalt: Nobody uses maps
[2024/03/30 10:58] Sudane Erato: cause it overcomes that prob to some extent
[2024/03/30 10:58] Rosie Gray: what new HUD?
[2024/03/30 10:58] Moon Adamant: we have been making a new HUD
[2024/03/30 10:58] Sudane Erato: We haven't announced the new HUD?
[2024/03/30 10:58] Sandy Burgess: The one that is planned
[2024/03/30 10:58] Moon Adamant: i can show it on hmm
[2024/03/30 10:58] Almut Brunswick: HUD?
[2024/03/30 10:58] Sudane Erato: its a HUD for buying land
[2024/03/30 10:58] Tor Karlsvalt: This one just puts the casper site on a hud
[2024/03/30 10:58] Moon Adamant: 5.1 :-D
[2024/03/30 10:59] Sandy Burgess: We could add buttons to open the map and show places for sale
[2024/03/30 10:59] Tor Karlsvalt: people can use that to tp to the parcels
[2024/03/30 10:59] Sudane Erato: Moon, do you have a CDS one?
[2024/03/30 10:59] Moon Adamant: yes
[2024/03/30 10:59] Kyoko Jarvinen-Barzane (Samara Barzane): is online.
[2024/03/30 10:59] Rosie Gray: I have the EM one
[2024/03/30 10:59] Sudane Erato: I have an SLNE one, if someone wants to try it
[2024/03/30 10:59] Rosie Gray: that's all
[2024/03/30 10:59] Moon Adamant: still hot
[2024/03/30 10:59] Rosie Gray: oh sure, Sudane
[2024/03/30 10:59] Sandy Burgess: Yes please
[2024/03/30 11:00] Rosie Gray: thank you
[2024/03/30 11:00] Agatha Macbeth: Thanks Su
[2024/03/30 11:01] Almut Brunswick: Thank you
[2024/03/30 11:01] Rosie Gray: so it basically brings up the land website and you can tp from it?
[2024/03/30 11:01] Moon Adamant: yes
[2024/03/30 11:01] Agatha Macbeth: Oh nice
[2024/03/30 11:01] Moon Adamant: i can show the CDS version too
[2024/03/30 11:02] Sudane Erato: Its built around Casper... so automatically updates
[2024/03/30 11:02] Tor Karlsvalt: Perhaps we can have the kiosks give it out.
[2024/03/30 11:02] Moon Adamant: yup
[2024/03/30 11:02] Rosie Gray: yes we could
[2024/03/30 11:02] Rosie Gray: instead of just going to the website
[2024/03/30 11:02] Sudane Erato: my descriptions are not as good as Moon's
[2024/03/30 11:02] Moon Adamant: well, i have a sign too to give it out lol... piping hot too!
[2024/03/30 11:02] Agatha Macbeth: /me wonders why it was named after a ghost
[2024/03/30 11:02] Rosie Gray: the kiosks are in a lot of places, not all in the CDS
[2024/03/30 11:03] Rosie Gray: so it would be nice to have it given out through them
[2024/03/30 11:03] Tor Karlsvalt: He is a friendly ghost?
[2024/03/30 11:03] Sudane Erato: who is the ghost?
[2024/03/30 11:03] Tor Karlsvalt: Caspar
[2024/03/30 11:03] Moon Adamant: look here, please
[2024/03/30 11:03] Agatha Macbeth: casper
[2024/03/30 11:03] Sudane Erato: oh!
[2024/03/30 11:03] Tor Karlsvalt: hehe
[2024/03/30 11:03] Agatha Macbeth: C*
[2024/03/30 11:03] Moon Adamant: it doesn't have the script yet
[2024/03/30 11:03] Tor Karlsvalt: I have CDS kiosks on all my mainland parcels.
[2024/03/30 11:03] Sudane Erato: Casper is the spirit behind the tierboxes
[2024/03/30 11:03] Rosie Gray: oh... hmm... the wording doesn't rez for me unless my camera is up quite close
[2024/03/30 11:03] Shyla the Super Gecko (KriJon Resident): is online.
[2024/03/30 11:04] Sudane Erato: and in a lot of trouble now in Linden land :)
[2024/03/30 11:04] Tor Karlsvalt: Angelika said she would put one out on her parcel in Norway, whenever that opens.
[2024/03/30 11:04] Rosie Gray: I've got one on the mainland next to a roadway
[2024/03/30 11:04] Tor Karlsvalt: Yeah, I was hearing. I think some vendors have stopped using casper
[2024/03/30 11:05] Moon Adamant: well, this is a sign for putting on interesting places, and for people who are walking
[2024/03/30 11:05] Tor Karlsvalt: Super Rosie
[2024/03/30 11:05] Rosie Gray: I haven't heard about Casper trouble
[2024/03/30 11:05] Rosie Gray: what is the issue?
[2024/03/30 11:05] Sudane Erato: oh... some RL scandal
[2024/03/30 11:05] Tor Karlsvalt: Yeah, I don't know if it really gaining purchase.
[2024/03/30 11:06] Tor Karlsvalt: Yeah, things spill over into other things.
[2024/03/30 11:06] Sudane Erato: the LL CEO made a public announcement last week about it
[2024/03/30 11:06] Rosie Gray: Moon... maybe just the words as texture would make it more accessible
[2024/03/30 11:06] Moon Adamant: yes, it's on the SL blog
[2024/03/30 11:06] Rosie Gray: thanks, I'll have to look at that :P
[2024/03/30 11:06] Sandy Burgess: Is there a link to that Casper scandal - have heard it mentioned once but never got any detail
[2024/03/30 11:07] Moon Adamant: sighs, I wanted this old sign look
[2024/03/30 11:07] Agatha Macbeth: It's nice
[2024/03/30 11:07] Tor Karlsvalt: Your sign looks good.
[2024/03/30 11:07] Rosie Gray: well you could keep the basic sign but just make the words themselves a texture instead of 3D
[2024/03/30 11:07] Moon Adamant: a bit like a railway sign
[2024/03/30 11:08] Rosie Gray: https://prnt.sc/78kIIo5B6UU7
[2024/03/30 11:08] Moon Adamant: I can do that, the issue is baking it, not doing the textures
[2024/03/30 11:08] Tor Karlsvalt: I was reading with PBR, you don't have t bake.
[2024/03/30 11:08] Moon Adamant: that's debatable lol
[2024/03/30 11:09] Moon Adamant: things will look better if you bake, that's what I have been testing for MONTHS now
[2024/03/30 11:09] Rosie Gray: I think there are different ways of doing PBR, since you can do them inworld too as applications
[2024/03/30 11:09] Rosie Gray: but I haven't tried it yet
[2024/03/30 11:09] Moon Adamant: actually what will work is a mix... baked details and PBR materials on the big surfaces
[2024/03/30 11:10] Tor Karlsvalt: Just throwing this out, but we might have to upgrade a lot of stuff with PBR
[2024/03/30 11:10] Moon Adamant: which only makes the planning more complicated
[2024/03/30 11:10] Rosie Gray: there's a lot of stuff that doesn't even have Normal or Specular maps
[2024/03/30 11:10] Tor Karlsvalt: And I barely can rez a box
[2024/03/30 11:10] Tor Karlsvalt: LOL
[2024/03/30 11:10] Moon Adamant: it's not really the PBR there, it's the mix of PBR and HDRI
[2024/03/30 11:10] Rosie Gray: pft, Tor
[2024/03/30 11:11] Moon Adamant: but some things still work well
[2024/03/30 11:11] Rosie Gray: I think we are digressing
[2024/03/30 11:12] Rosie Gray: hello Vanessa
[2024/03/30 11:12] Moon Adamant: The thermae under the new Midday light:
[2024/03/30 11:12] Vanessa Hamer: /me Waves Hi
[2024/03/30 11:12] Tor Karlsvalt: Hi Vanessa
[2024/03/30 11:12] Agatha Macbeth: Hello neighbour :)
[2024/03/30 11:12] Moon Adamant: hi Vanessa ㋡
[2024/03/30 11:12] Tor Karlsvalt: Good to see you
[2024/03/30 11:12] Vanessa Hamer: Hi, sorry to barge in
[2024/03/30 11:12] Almut Brunswick: Hello Vanessa
[2024/03/30 11:12] Sandy Burgess: Hello Vanessa
[2024/03/30 11:12] Tor Karlsvalt: You are most welcome
[2024/03/30 11:12] Agatha Macbeth: S' OK we won't call security
[2024/03/30 11:12] Rosie Gray: :D
[2024/03/30 11:12] Vanessa Hamer: Wait. We have SECURITY?
[2024/03/30 11:12] Rosie Gray: we are discussing signage on our for-sale properties
[2024/03/30 11:12] Tor Karlsvalt: btw, you could offer some insight here
[2024/03/30 11:13] Agatha Macbeth: /me looks round conspiratorialy
[2024/03/30 11:13] Tor Karlsvalt: I think Security is sleeping after eating his donut.
[2024/03/30 11:13] Vanessa Hamer: uh oh....insight !!!
[2024/03/30 11:13] Tor Karlsvalt: Well we were discussing signage on parcels for sale
[2024/03/30 11:14] Moon Adamant: yes!
[2024/03/30 11:14] Tor Karlsvalt: What new people see, understand.
[2024/03/30 11:14] Kyoko Jarvinen-Barzane (Samara Barzane): is offline.
[2024/03/30 11:14] Rosie Gray: ㋡
[2024/03/30 11:14] Rosie Gray: so here's a question for you
[2024/03/30 11:14] Vanessa Hamer: ::listening::
[2024/03/30 11:15] Rosie Gray: if you see a parcel of land with a house on it, do you assume that the house must be kept if you buy the land?
[2024/03/30 11:15] Rosie Gray: in CDS, I mean ㋡
[2024/03/30 11:16] Vanessa Hamer: I can see where people would make that assumption but in SL, people who have been around a while will generally ask about that. New residents won't because they don't know any better.
[2024/03/30 11:16] Agatha Macbeth: Agreed
[2024/03/30 11:17] Vanessa Hamer: So far as For Sale signs, that's OK when explorers and sightseeing in CDS, but nothing beats the big yellow "For Sale" patches on the Map.
[2024/03/30 11:17] Almut Brunswick: Right
[2024/03/30 11:17] Rosie Gray: although as we've already discussed, some people don't even know about the yellow on the map
[2024/03/30 11:17] Moon Adamant: yes
[2024/03/30 11:18] Moon Adamant: i think it will end up that we need all the ways we can tell people about land for sale
[2024/03/30 11:18] Tor Karlsvalt: LOL, we all agree about the map, but alas we find or suspect that many nowadays don't know what the yellow means.
[2024/03/30 11:18] Vanessa Hamer: In Caledon, they always had a sign with a notecard-giver which contained direct Landmarks..."Properties For Sale"
[2024/03/30 11:18] Vanessa Hamer: It's actually not that big a deal to update that once each week.
[2024/03/30 11:18] Cathy Sabre: i would assume most buyerd would ssume the house could be replced. that it wa anchored would be the problem.
[2024/03/30 11:18] Agatha Macbeth: It's not on by default either, which doesn't help
[2024/03/30 11:19] Moon Adamant: so we have yellow on the map, and teh CDS Casper HUD... and then a sign when you arrive at teh parcel
[2024/03/30 11:19] Tor Karlsvalt: I guess that is what we are accomplishing with the HUD pointing to the Casper website.
[2024/03/30 11:19] Rosie Gray: hmmm... perhaps we need to survey visitors about this
[2024/03/30 11:19] Tor Karlsvalt: That would be good Rosie. I often wonder how people find us.
[2024/03/30 11:19] Vanessa Hamer: There's another idea that's more effective than signage, but it would require a LOT of work
[2024/03/30 11:19] Moon Adamant: yes, better the MOAP Hud with the Casper page that is always updated
[2024/03/30 11:20] Rosie Gray: that HUD does seem like a good idea
[2024/03/30 11:20] Moon Adamant: I'll show it on 5.1 ㋡
[2024/03/30 11:20] Tor Karlsvalt: I will put a copy of it out by the land office too.
[2024/03/30 11:20] Vanessa Hamer: When the property is occupied, the rental meter is red. When it's available, blue. There could also be floating text script implanted that shows "Available"
[2024/03/30 11:21] Rosie Gray: our tierboxes do already show when something is available
[2024/03/30 11:21] Rosie Gray: and change
[2024/03/30 11:21] Sudane Erato: yeah, they get big
[2024/03/30 11:21] Vanessa Hamer: I probably knew that already
[2024/03/30 11:21] Rosie Gray: ㋡
[2024/03/30 11:21] Moon Adamant: i do think we could review their appearance
[2024/03/30 11:21] Vanessa Hamer: The BIG signs, yes, that's the best way
[2024/03/30 11:21] Tor Karlsvalt: hehe, they are brown, however.
[2024/03/30 11:21] Tor Karlsvalt: The logo is blue
[2024/03/30 11:21] Agatha Macbeth: Red when overdue
[2024/03/30 11:21] Rosie Gray: well they don't need to stick out like a sore thumb either
[2024/03/30 11:22] Vanessa Hamer: No, they don't. If they indicate "Available" that's more than enough
[2024/03/30 11:22] Tor Karlsvalt: /me thinks too bad they don't get larger depending on how many parcels are for sale.
[2024/03/30 11:22] Moon Adamant: but otoh, tehy're brown against what are mainly brown walls :-D
[2024/03/30 11:22] Vanessa Hamer: My current place in NFS was found that way, I believe.
[2024/03/30 11:22] Sudane Erato: we could rez those huge, rotating For Sale signs over each available parcel
[2024/03/30 11:22] Tor Karlsvalt: LOL
[2024/03/30 11:22] Sudane Erato: FullBright
[2024/03/30 11:22] Rosie Gray: hehe, Sudane
[2024/03/30 11:22] Vanessa Hamer: Since NFS has been full lately, I was very lucky to find that place
[2024/03/30 11:23] Moon Adamant: indeed you were!
[2024/03/30 11:23] Rosie Gray: yes and add some spammy audio too, for good measure
[2024/03/30 11:23] Tor Karlsvalt: NFS is the Grand Dame
[2024/03/30 11:23] Vanessa Hamer: I had to interrupt Sudane from building and Tor from Toring
[2024/03/30 11:23] Agatha Macbeth: We need a sign to point people to the sign maybe
[2024/03/30 11:23] Rosie Gray: you can lead a horse to water....
[2024/03/30 11:23] Sudane Erato: :)... I can always be interrupted :)
[2024/03/30 11:24] Vanessa Hamer: I know, Miss Sudane, but you're very busy and I don't like to bug people....except Cathy
[2024/03/30 11:24] Tor Karlsvalt: yeah, Toring can be interrupted too.
[2024/03/30 11:24] Agatha Macbeth: Aww
[2024/03/30 11:24] Vanessa Hamer: Well....I did it !!!
[2024/03/30 11:24] Tor Karlsvalt: :)
[2024/03/30 11:24] Rosie Gray: https://community.secondlife.com/blogs/ ... lf-linden/
[2024/03/30 11:24] Sudane Erato: :))
[2024/03/30 11:24] Vanessa Hamer: I was so positive someone would show up and snatch it from under me
[2024/03/30 11:24] Rosie Gray: for our earlier topic
[2024/03/30 11:25] Sudane Erato: Rosie, yes
[2024/03/30 11:25] Sudane Erato: the viral gossip :)
[2024/03/30 11:25] Tor Karlsvalt: Parcels in NFS go fast usually
[2024/03/30 11:26] Rosie Gray: /me notes the time
[2024/03/30 11:26] Rosie Gray: I think we need to move on
[2024/03/30 11:26] Almut Brunswick: Yes please
[2024/03/30 11:26] Sudane Erato: next meeting?
[2024/03/30 11:26] Sudane Erato: field trip!
[2024/03/30 11:26] Almut Brunswick: Yes, let me check the calendar
[2024/03/30 11:26] Rosie Gray: I think we can table the new business for next meeting
[2024/03/30 11:26] Moon Adamant: oh :-(
[2024/03/30 11:27] Sudane Erato: sadly I am not available Apr 20/21

[2024/03/30 11:27] Rosie Gray: how about the 27th?
[2024/03/30 11:28] Sudane Erato: oh, also not Sunday May 5... it's Greek Easter
[2024/03/30 11:28] Sudane Erato: 27th is great!
[2024/03/30 11:28] Rosie Gray: okay, 10:00 am slt again?
[2024/03/30 11:28] Sandy Burgess: Should work for me
[2024/03/30 11:28] Sudane Erato: good for me
[2024/03/30 11:28] Almut Brunswick: Yes
[2024/03/30 11:28] Cathy Sabre: me

[2024/03/30 11:29] Sudane Erato: i move we adjourn :)
[2024/03/30 11:29] Almut Brunswick: Greek Easter sounds good - I caught such a terrible cold that I want to postpone Easter anyway
