[2023/01/21 12:06] Rosie Gray: hi everyone ㋡
[2023/01/21 12:06] Almut Brunswick: Hello Rosie.
[2023/01/21 12:06] Almut Brunswick: 2 Land-Use Commission Report (Agatha)
[2023/01/21 12:06] Agatha Macbeth: Skeleton staff today :p
[2023/01/21 12:06] Sandy Burgess: Hello Rosie
[2023/01/21 12:06] Jerry McNally: Hi Rosie
[2023/01/21 12:06] Agatha Macbeth: Thank you LRA. There was meeting of the LUC on January 14. The following is a resumé of what was discussed.
[2023/01/21 12:07] Agatha Macbeth: Lilith has again been appointed LUC Chair.
[2023/01/21 12:07] Agatha Macbeth: Leslie has been appointed as Pro Tempore.
[2023/01/21 12:07] Agatha Macbeth: I have been appointed as Archivist.
[2023/01/21 12:07] Almut Brunswick: Good choice :D
[2023/01/21 12:07] Agatha Macbeth: :P
[2023/01/21 12:07] Agatha Macbeth: Subjects discussed were: 1) Parcel Names, 2) Educational Signage, 3) Paid Listings.
[2023/01/21 12:07] Agatha Macbeth: 1) Parcel Names.
[2023/01/21 12:08] Agatha Macbeth: The eastern fishing village has been named Luna Marina.
[2023/01/21 12:08] Agatha Macbeth: The western fishing village has been named Limani (Greek for port).
[2023/01/21 12:08] Agatha Macbeth: Mirrormere is now Lake Friedsee and the waterfall (formerly just named 'Falling Water') is now Kuhfluchtwasserfälle, which means Cow Escape Waterfalls...something to do with the Romans, allegedly.
[2023/01/21 12:08] Almut Brunswick: hahahaha
[2023/01/21 12:09] Almut Brunswick: what a stupid name...sorry... :D
[2023/01/21 12:09] Agatha Macbeth: Monastery lake was originally to be renamed Tiefensee, but the Chancellor prefers Der Friedsee. We decided against Tor's recommendation that it should have a monster! Possibly the unnamed lake in Friedsee sim will be called Tiefensee instead.
[2023/01/21 12:09] Agatha Macbeth: Hehe
[2023/01/21 12:09] Rosie Gray: /me raises a hand
[2023/01/21 12:09] Agatha Macbeth: /me waits
[2023/01/21 12:09] Almut Brunswick: Rosie please
[2023/01/21 12:10] Rosie Gray: oh sorry Agatha... I was going to say that I thought we had decided to name the Friedsee lake Tiefensee
[2023/01/21 12:10] Agatha Macbeth: Didn't Moon say she changed it back?
[2023/01/21 12:10] Agatha Macbeth: I must admit I was confused by it
[2023/01/21 12:10] Rosie Gray: well you can't actually name just the lake in the parcels anyway
[2023/01/21 12:11] Rosie Gray: it renames all of the public land
[2023/01/21 12:11] Rosie Gray: anyway, sorry to interrupt
[2023/01/21 12:11] Agatha Macbeth: Yes she said something about it wasn't in its own parcel
[2023/01/21 12:11] Almut Brunswick: (When I ever will become Chancellor, I think the first thing I will rename is "Kuhfluchtwasserfälle" - it is too hilarious for German ears^^)
[2023/01/21 12:11] Agatha Macbeth: Maybe we should get clarification from her on that
[2023/01/21 12:11] Sandy Burgess: But they really exist
[2023/01/21 12:12] Almut Brunswick: Maybe I should intervene as native speaker.
[2023/01/21 12:12] Sandy Burgess: https://www.kuhflucht-wasserfaelle.de/
[2023/01/21 12:12] Agatha Macbeth: Unfortunately she can't be here today
[2023/01/21 12:12] Rosie Gray: well it was Lilith's suggestion I think
[2023/01/21 12:12] Almut Brunswick: Yes, might be, but it sounds so stupic.
[2023/01/21 12:12] Agatha Macbeth: Yes Lilith suggested the name
[2023/01/21 12:12] Almut Brunswick: d*
[2023/01/21 12:12] Jerry McNally: it all makes perfect sense to me -- correction, it doesn't
[2023/01/21 12:12] Sandy Burgess: And these names are what people in the Alps would name places
[2023/01/21 12:12] Agatha Macbeth: Me too Jerry
[2023/01/21 12:12] Almut Brunswick: Ok, Carry on please :D
[2023/01/21 12:12] Jerry McNally: :)
[2023/01/21 12:13] Rosie Gray: I rather liked it, but yes sorry for the interruption
[2023/01/21 12:13] Agatha Macbeth: Ok
[2023/01/21 12:13] Agatha Macbeth: 2) Educational Signage.
[2023/01/21 12:13] Agatha Macbeth: Wording on signs will be kept simple and informative and they will give information with a whisper in local chat, rather than giving notecards which tend to clutter peoples' inventories.
[2023/01/21 12:13] Agatha Macbeth: 3) Paid Listings.
[2023/01/21 12:13] Agatha Macbeth: Lilith will remove the paid listing for Decantus until we have finished setting up the new theatre and the tunnel system. She will also forward our recommendations about the paid listings to the Chancellor.
[2023/01/21 12:14] Jerry McNally: /me thinks that's a good idea about not cluttering inventories
[2023/01/21 12:14] Agatha Macbeth: /me nods
[2023/01/21 12:14] Almut Brunswick: Right
[2023/01/21 12:14] Agatha Macbeth: Next LUC Meeting is scheduled for Sunday Feb 5 at 9:00 am slt
[2023/01/21 12:14] Jerry McNally: /me raises a hand
[2023/01/21 12:14] Almut Brunswick: Jerry please
[2023/01/21 12:14] Jerry McNally: Sorry, can you remind me what/where Decantus is please?
[2023/01/21 12:15] Agatha Macbeth: Good question
[2023/01/21 12:15] Agatha Macbeth: Rosie?
[2023/01/21 12:15] Rosie Gray: oh
[2023/01/21 12:15] Agatha Macbeth: (I have no idea personally)
[2023/01/21 12:15] Rosie Gray: I believe that is just the name of the road outside of CN city walls, beside the theatre
[2023/01/21 12:15] Jerry McNally: ok, thanks
[2023/01/21 12:15] Agatha Macbeth: Ah yes...makes sense then
[2023/01/21 12:16] Agatha Macbeth: On the subject of the names, perhaps we should get clarification on that when the Chancellor is present?
[2023/01/21 12:16] Almut Brunswick: She will be here on our next meeting, so yes, I agree.
[2023/01/21 12:17] Agatha Macbeth: Good
[2023/01/21 12:17] Agatha Macbeth: I'm done then
[2023/01/21 12:17] Almut Brunswick: Thank you, Agatha.
[2023/01/21 12:17] Agatha Macbeth: :)
[2023/01/21 12:17] Almut Brunswick: 3 Old Business
3.1 Request to RA by the SC: Modification of NL 7-1 Government Question Time Act, Section 5
* Link to the Forum discussion: viewtopic.php?t=9428
[2023/01/21 12:17] Almut Brunswick: We still have this request on our table.
[2023/01/21 12:18] Jerry McNally: The last comment was from December...
[2023/01/21 12:18] Almut Brunswick: What is your opinion about it?
[2023/01/21 12:18] Sandy Burgess: And no one seems to be interested in discussing it
[2023/01/21 12:18] Almut Brunswick: Yes, I know, Jerry
[2023/01/21 12:18] Jerry McNally: Do we need to encourage more debate, or just affect the change regarding transcripts and leave it at that?
[2023/01/21 12:19] Almut Brunswick: after the first Gov't Hour last week, I tend to the latter.
[2023/01/21 12:19] Jerry McNally: /me nods
[2023/01/21 12:20] Sandy Burgess: I would go with your proposal. Change the wording re the transcripts and perhaps make it clear that citizens and friends of CDS are welcome
[2023/01/21 12:20] Agatha Macbeth: Hello Delia
[2023/01/21 12:20] Rosie Gray: hi Delia
[2023/01/21 12:20] Sandy Burgess: Hello Delia
[2023/01/21 12:20] Almut Brunswick: We had a nice well-attended sit-in at Pip Torok Community Center, but it was not that formal. I personally would support the change requested by the SC.
[2023/01/21 12:20] Delia Lake: Hi :)
[2023/01/21 12:20] Almut Brunswick: Hello Delia
[2023/01/21 12:20] Jerry McNally: Hi
[2023/01/21 12:21] Almut Brunswick: But we shouldn't invest too much brains into a complete rework - that does not really make sense.
[2023/01/21 12:21] Sandy Burgess: Agree Almut
[2023/01/21 12:21] Jerry McNally: Yes I agree too
[2023/01/21 12:21] Almut Brunswick: So I propose to vote for the SC proposal as requested and to leave the rest of the Law as it is.
[2023/01/21 12:22] Jerry McNally: what's the process for that? Do we need to prepare a full text of that, to vote on?
[2023/01/21 12:23] Jerry McNally: or agree on the change and produce a new text after the vote?
[2023/01/21 12:23] Agatha Macbeth: Oops
[2023/01/21 12:23] Almut Brunswick: I don't think that this is necessary, Jerry. The SC said exactly where to perform the change:
[2023/01/21 12:23] Jerry McNally: Sandy's escaped, like those cows or something
[2023/01/21 12:23] Agatha Macbeth: WB Sandy
[2023/01/21 12:23] Rosie Gray: hehe
[2023/01/21 12:23] Almut Brunswick: Please find below the rationale to a modification of NL 7-1 Government Question Time Act, Section 5.
A new text for Section 5 is thus proposed:
"GHQ meetings will be summarized by the chair of each meeting, identifying who represented govt, what questions were asked and a transcript of the answers.. These summaries will be posted in the Executive Forum and the Q&A Forum within seven (7) days. "
[2023/01/21 12:23] Sandy Burgess: Sorry - I crashed
[2023/01/21 12:23] Almut Brunswick: WB Sandy
[2023/01/21 12:24] Jerry McNally: Ok, in that case I second your proposal Almut
[2023/01/21 12:24] Agatha Macbeth: Hello Tor
[2023/01/21 12:24] Rosie Gray: hi Tor
[2023/01/21 12:24] Almut Brunswick: Hello Tor
[2023/01/21 12:24] Delia Lake: Hi Tor
[2023/01/21 12:24] Tor Karlsvalt: Hi all
[2023/01/21 12:24] Almut Brunswick: whispers: When there aren't any further questions, let's vote about the SC
[2023/01/21 12:24] Sandy Burgess: And I "Aye" it
[2023/01/21 12:24] Almut Brunswick: 's request
[2023/01/21 12:24] Sandy Burgess: Hello Tor
[2023/01/21 12:25] Agatha Macbeth: Aye
[2023/01/21 12:25] Almut Brunswick: Aye
[2023/01/21 12:25] Jerry McNally: Aye
[2023/01/21 12:25] Jerry McNally: hi Tor
[2023/01/21 12:25] Almut Brunswick: Thank you. The SC's proposal is hereby approved, and the NL 7-1 Government Question Time Act will be updated accordingly.
[2023/01/21 12:26] Jerry McNally: /me nods
[2023/01/21 12:26] Delia Lake: /me nods
[2023/01/21 12:26] Almut Brunswick: 4 New Business is a short topic this time. There isn't any today.
[2023/01/21 12:26] Tor Karlsvalt: :)
[2023/01/21 12:26] Almut Brunswick: 5 Citizen Concerns
5.1 Results of the first Government Hour on Sunday, January 15, 2023
[2023/01/21 12:28] Almut Brunswick: Well, we just voted for a summary, and despite the fact that we just have voted for this request to publish a summary of the Gov't Hour, I will try to outline briefly what our main topics of interest were.
[2023/01/21 12:28] Almut Brunswick: (means: leaving out all jokes and funny comments^^)
[2023/01/21 12:29] Tor Karlsvalt: /me wonders if that was most of the meeting.
[2023/01/21 12:29] Almut Brunswick: I had the honor to be the host of this well-attended meeting.
[2023/01/21 12:29] Almut Brunswick: Hehe, Tor, it was! When you have Gwyneth in a meeting, you can be sure that there is a lot of entertainment between the more substantial parts of the conversation :D
[2023/01/21 12:30] Agatha Macbeth: /me is shocked
[2023/01/21 12:30] Sandy Burgess: whispers: Can't remember ... was laughing too much
[2023/01/21 12:30] Tor Karlsvalt: hehe
[2023/01/21 12:30] Almut Brunswick: As more or less new citizens, we had Breila, Yan and Leslie amongst the attendees.
[2023/01/21 12:31] Almut Brunswick: Mizou and Rosie were there, too, and all three constitutional powers were present.
[2023/01/21 12:31] Sandy Burgess: /me considers that she has just been promote to the old citizens ...
[2023/01/21 12:31] Tor Karlsvalt: hehe
[2023/01/21 12:32] Tor Karlsvalt: Hang in there Sandy.
[2023/01/21 12:32] Rosie Gray: :D
[2023/01/21 12:32] Almut Brunswick: Rosie asked the question to Moon where the public allotments would be
[2023/01/21 12:32] Almut Brunswick: And she replied it will be an event similar to the Nights of Lights parcel, and everyone is invited to come and add to the communal garden
[2023/01/21 12:33] Almut Brunswick: Details will follow soon, she promised.
[2023/01/21 12:34] Almut Brunswick: Delia tried to give the meeting a bit more serious "paint" by asking why democracy is important in our community
[2023/01/21 12:34] Almut Brunswick: this, however, ended up in a firework of anecdotes from the colorful CDS history
[2023/01/21 12:35] Tor Karlsvalt: hehe
[2023/01/21 12:35] Jerry McNally: /me can imagine
[2023/01/21 12:35] Almut Brunswick: Good thing is that our new citizen Yan is very interested in such things, so it found a thankful audience (not only) in him.
[2023/01/21 12:35] Tor Karlsvalt: /me wonders if I can have some long boring talks with yan
[2023/01/21 12:35] Jerry McNally: haha
[2023/01/21 12:36] Rosie Gray: hehe
[2023/01/21 12:36] Jerry McNally: sounds like a podcast idea to me!
[2023/01/21 12:36] Almut Brunswick: In another attempt of seriousness, Delia emphasized the value of collaboration in our community.
[2023/01/21 12:36] Sandy Burgess: /me smiles brightly at Tor. Please - then I have some time for scripting
[2023/01/21 12:36] Tor Karlsvalt: You know I wondered about that Jerry. Maybe a good retirement project.
[2023/01/21 12:37] Almut Brunswick: That induced another wave of reports about bygone and more current building activities by our current and former citizens.
[2023/01/21 12:38] Tor Karlsvalt: nice
[2023/01/21 12:38] Almut Brunswick: At some point, Gwyn came up with the idea to build another quarter with ancient Egyptian monuments. I was about to kill her :D
[2023/01/21 12:38] Rosie Gray: hehe
[2023/01/21 12:39] Almut Brunswick: Until others kept me back from hurting her by pointing on her vivid sparking sene of special humor.
[2023/01/21 12:39] Sandy Burgess: We could throw her into Lake Tiefensee ... weighted down with some Pyramids
[2023/01/21 12:39] Tor Karlsvalt: lol
[2023/01/21 12:39] Almut Brunswick: A stone coffin should be enough :D
[2023/01/21 12:39] Agatha Macbeth: If we can find it :p
[2023/01/21 12:40] Tor Karlsvalt: /me shudders at remembering Cleo's Egyptian temple in LA
[2023/01/21 12:40] Almut Brunswick: Brave Delia started another attempt to come back to the characteristics of our democracy. Namely that we could be very slow at times.
[2023/01/21 12:40] Delia Lake: :)
[2023/01/21 12:41] Almut Brunswick: But somehow it came out how effective we have worked in the most recent terms in respect on associating with the VWEC, moving our sims and tidying up our Constitution.
[2023/01/21 12:42] Tor Karlsvalt: /me hats off to all.
[2023/01/21 12:43] Delia Lake: /me raises her hand
[2023/01/21 12:43] Almut Brunswick: I don't fully recapture Gwyn's statements about the existence of a Swiss navy, but I think I can spare you all this :D
[2023/01/21 12:43] Almut Brunswick: Delia please!
[2023/01/21 12:43] Rosie Gray: hehe
[2023/01/21 12:44] Tor Karlsvalt: /me thinks we need and airship navy as Caledon might strike at any moment.
[2023/01/21 12:44] Delia Lake: I did speak with Elli and Val at the VWEC management meeting and I do now have permission to post our Gov't hours to that group as well
[2023/01/21 12:44] Rosie Gray: oh that's nice
[2023/01/21 12:44] Jerry McNally: Sounds interesting
[2023/01/21 12:44] Almut Brunswick: Oh my, how scaring...errrm promising!
[2023/01/21 12:45] Tor Karlsvalt: They won't be able to say we are academic stuff shirts.
[2023/01/21 12:45] Delia Lake: lol
[2023/01/21 12:45] Tor Karlsvalt: /me hopes he VWEC doesn't read our transcripts.
[2023/01/21 12:46] Almut Brunswick: Our first Gov't Hour went 1.5 hours and was a lot of fun! Maybe a bit different of some of us may have expected, but far from being boring.
[2023/01/21 12:46] Tor Karlsvalt: A CDS hours
[2023/01/21 12:46] Tor Karlsvalt: hour*
[2023/01/21 12:47] Almut Brunswick: Sorry for my improvised report today, but I hope I didn't miss too much substantial topics. If so, some of you were there, too, so feel free to amend my words. Thank you.
[2023/01/21 12:47] Almut Brunswick: many*
[2023/01/21 12:47] Agatha Macbeth: The Swiss navy is based in Italy (allegedly)
[2023/01/21 12:48] Tor Karlsvalt: lol
[2023/01/21 12:48] Jerry McNally: Thanks for the colourful summary Almut, just right
[2023/01/21 12:48] Tor Karlsvalt: Must be where the Austrian navy is.
[2023/01/21 12:48] Almut Brunswick: The Austrians once had indeed a navy based at Triest.
[2023/01/21 12:48] Almut Brunswick: But that was before and during WWI
[2023/01/21 12:49] Tor Karlsvalt: yup
[2023/01/21 12:49] Agatha Macbeth: They had an empire then (and a coastline)
[2023/01/21 12:49] Tor Karlsvalt: So I learned from the American History of Austria = Sound of Music.
[2023/01/21 12:49] Tor Karlsvalt: hehe
[2023/01/21 12:49] Rosie Gray: lol
[2023/01/21 12:50] Almut Brunswick: Ok, when there aren't any further points, just the hint that we will have our next Gov't Hour in February.
[2023/01/21 12:50] Jerry McNally: /me gets all his history from the movies
[2023/01/21 12:50] Almut Brunswick: And this time, we should invite our VWEC friends.
[2023/01/21 12:50] Agatha Macbeth: 0.0
[2023/01/21 12:50] Agatha Macbeth: Is that wise do you think?
[2023/01/21 12:51] Tor Karlsvalt: Democracy in action
[2023/01/21 12:51] Almut Brunswick: Oh, they got accustomed to Delia, Lilith, Wordsmith, Kyoko (!) and me - they are warned what to expect here :D
[2023/01/21 12:52] Agatha Macbeth: Just worried they might get the...hm...wrong impression
[2023/01/21 12:52] Tor Karlsvalt: hehe
[2023/01/21 12:52] Rosie Gray: lol
[2023/01/21 12:52] Rosie Gray: oh ye of little faith!
[2023/01/21 12:52] Tor Karlsvalt: Make sure we hide the booze.
[2023/01/21 12:52] Agatha Macbeth: Good plan
[2023/01/21 12:52] Almut Brunswick: That is the fluid of freedom
[2023/01/21 12:53] Delia Lake: or drink it all before we start
[2023/01/21 12:53] Agatha Macbeth: In vino veritas
