Minutes RA Meeting September 2, 2023

Post by Jerry McNally »

Minutes
Representative Assembly Meeting
Saturday, September 2, 2023, 10:00 SLT

Attending: Almut Brunswick, Jerry McNally, Rosie Gray
Also attending: Delia Lake, Kyoko Järvinen-Barzane

1 Administrative Business

1.1 Approval of the Agenda
Motion to approve the agenda as presented. Jerry 1st, Rosie 2nd, all in favour, motion carried.

1.2 Review and Approval of the Minutes of the Third RA Meeting on August 19, 2023
Motion to approve the minutes as presented. Rosie 1st, Almut 2nd, all in favour, motion carried.

2 Executive Report

In the Chancellor's absence, Kyoko Järvinen-Barzane reassured the Assembly that events are being planned and discussions around Oktoberfest have begun. One possible idea was a pub crawl starting at Lilith's Irish Pub and ending at the Biergarten.

3 Old Business

3.1 New Guild Act to replace the current LUC Act: Status Report
As agreed at the last RA meeting, the LRA has drafted an Artisan Guild Act Google Doc, to formalise the change in status of the Artisan Guild from a non-governmental organisation to being part of government, replacing the Land Use Commission. Feedback via Google Doc comments is being sought from all members of the Assembly and, once agreed, the proposal will be shared with the Forum for wider feedback.

4 New Business

4.1 Scheduling the next Q&A in the Government Hours
The chairing of the Government Question Time events rotates across all three branches of government, but unfortunately it was not clear in the notes in the Q&A Forum of the most recent event who had organised it, making it unclear who takes responsibility for the next one. Nevertheless, all present agreed that holding it next to a CDS social event was a good way of attracting citizens and visitors to it, and one possibility discussed was linking it with Oktoberfest. The LRA asked Kyoko to take this up with the Chancellor, as part of his Oktoberfest planning.

5 Citizen Concerns

None.

6 RA Member Concerns

A concern was raised that holding this meeting earlier than usual might have contributed to its low attendance. It was recognised, however, that because of the spread of citizens' RL locations and time-zones, there is no perfect time for such meetings.

7 Announcements

Everyone present welcomed the news that the new Amais regions and the new connecting water regions between them and the CDS (as first discussed by the Assembly in March) have now arrived.

Upcoming CDS events are displayed on the CDS Google Calendar, as shown on the cdsdemocracy.org homepage.

8 Next RA Meeting

Sunday, September 24, 2023, 10:00 SLT.

Given the concern raised at item 6, the LRA agreed to inform absent Assembly members and the Chancellor of this date and time.

9 Adjourn

Adjourned at 11:13 SLT.
