[2023/08/19 09:35] Almut Brunswick: Dear Mr. Chancellor, dear fellow RA members, dear Moon. Hereby I call this Second RA meeting of the 39th term to order.
[2023/08/19 09:35] Moon Adamant: wotcha Gwyn
[2023/08/19 09:35] Almut Brunswick: Hello Gwyn, just in time :D
[2023/08/19 09:35] Gwyneth Llewelyn: /me says hi and tries to move out of this spot
[2023/08/19 09:35] Gwyneth Llewelyn: so sorry Rosie!
[2023/08/19 09:35] Almut Brunswick: Apparently she had set her bookmark to her old chair :D
[2023/08/19 09:35] Rosie Gray: lol
[2023/08/19 09:36] Tor Karlsvalt: Hi Gwyn
[2023/08/19 09:36] Gwyneth Llewelyn: Exactly, Almut :) Spot on hehe
[2023/08/19 09:36] Jerry McNally: Poor Rosie!
[2023/08/19 09:36] Moon Adamant: lol
[2023/08/19 09:36] Almut Brunswick: 1 Administrative Business
1.1 Approval of the Agenda
[2023/08/19 09:36] Rosie Gray: I'll survive ;)
[2023/08/19 09:36] Almut Brunswick: Now Jerry's most favorite game starts again.
[2023/08/19 09:37] Jerry McNally: I think ...
[2023/08/19 09:37] Jerry McNally: ... it's ok?
[2023/08/19 09:37] Jerry McNally: :)
[2023/08/19 09:37] Almut Brunswick: The approval of the FIRST RA meeting is there on purpose because of the tabled second meeting
[2023/08/19 09:37] Rosie Gray: Motion to approve the Agenda as presented
[2023/08/19 09:37] Jerry McNally: Second
[2023/08/19 09:37] Sandy Burgess: Aye
[2023/08/19 09:37] Rosie Gray: aye
[2023/08/19 09:37] Almut Brunswick: I numbered this here the third one, just to save us confusion. In fact, it is the second.
[2023/08/19 09:37] Almut Brunswick: Aye. Thank you!
[2023/08/19 09:38] Rosie Gray: I never pay attention to that anyway, only to the date
[2023/08/19 09:38] Almut Brunswick: 1.2 Review and Approval of the Minutes of the First RA Meeting on June 10, 2023
* https://forums.slcds.info/viewtopic.php?t=10401
[2023/08/19 09:38] Jerry McNally: (I'll reflect that in the minutes Almut)
[2023/08/19 09:38] Almut Brunswick: (Thank you!)
[2023/08/19 09:38] Sandy Burgess: Luckily we have Jerry to sort out those details
[2023/08/19 09:38] Gwyneth Llewelyn: /me *snickers*
[2023/08/19 09:38] Almut Brunswick: /me needs a Jerry in her head at times...
[2023/08/19 09:39] Sandy Burgess: Read the minutes and motion to approve
[2023/08/19 09:39] Rosie Gray: second
[2023/08/19 09:39] Almut Brunswick: Then let's vote
[2023/08/19 09:39] Sandy Burgess: aye
[2023/08/19 09:39] Rosie Gray: aye
[2023/08/19 09:39] Jerry McNally: Aye
[2023/08/19 09:39] Almut Brunswick: Aye
[2023/08/19 09:39] Almut Brunswick: Thank you
[2023/08/19 09:39] Almut Brunswick: Due to the long absence of our current LRA, we should decide to elect a new LRA and Pro Tempore LRA for the remaining term:
1.3 Election of a new RA Leader
[2023/08/19 09:39] Almut Brunswick: I hope/assume that you agree with this motion
[2023/08/19 09:39] Gwyneth Llewelyn: ^^
[2023/08/19 09:40] Rosie Gray: seems to be necessary :(
[2023/08/19 09:40] Jerry McNally: Do we know any more about this?
[2023/08/19 09:40] Gwyneth Llewelyn: /me *shakes head*
[2023/08/19 09:40] Almut Brunswick: Sadly yes. No trace of Tan for a while now.
[2023/08/19 09:40] Gwyneth Llewelyn: :-(
[2023/08/19 09:40] Jerry McNally: That's a shame
[2023/08/19 09:40] Tor Karlsvalt: /me nods
[2023/08/19 09:40] Sandy Burgess: I have not heard from her after the first RA meeting this term
[2023/08/19 09:41] Jerry McNally: I guess RL commitments and so on?
[2023/08/19 09:41] Rosie Gray: I believe that Tan is not well right now
[2023/08/19 09:41] Almut Brunswick: Nods.
[2023/08/19 09:41] Gwyneth Llewelyn: Aww
[2023/08/19 09:41] Moon Adamant: :-(
[2023/08/19 09:41] Rosie Gray: hopefully she gets better soon
[2023/08/19 09:42] Moon Adamant: yes!
[2023/08/19 09:42] Gwyneth Llewelyn: I hope so, too!
[2023/08/19 09:42] Jerry McNally: Oh dear, hopefully we can pass on our regards somehow
[2023/08/19 09:42] Almut Brunswick: So, let's fulfill our duty and look for a new LRA and pro tempore to keep things running.
[2023/08/19 09:42] Jerry McNally: Agreed
[2023/08/19 09:42] Almut Brunswick: I think we could ask Lilith to do so, Jerry.
[2023/08/19 09:43] Jerry McNally: /me nods
[2023/08/19 09:43] Rosie Gray: Jerry your mic is live
[2023/08/19 09:43] Gwyneth Llewelyn: /me *giggles*
[2023/08/19 09:43] Almut Brunswick: As the pro tempore LRA in charge, I ask you for proposals for the new LRA
[2023/08/19 09:43] Rosie Gray: can we pursuade you, once again Almut?
[2023/08/19 09:43] Almut Brunswick: You can.
[2023/08/19 09:44] Gwyneth Llewelyn: /me *chuckles*
[2023/08/19 09:44] Jerry McNally: I think that would be a sensible approach
[2023/08/19 09:44] Rosie Gray: then, unless anyone else wants the job, I nominate Almut as replacement LRA
[2023/08/19 09:44] Jerry McNally: I'll second that
[2023/08/19 09:45] Almut Brunswick: When there isn't any other proposal, let's vote
[2023/08/19 09:45] Sandy Burgess: Aye
[2023/08/19 09:45] Rosie Gray: aye
[2023/08/19 09:45] Jerry McNally: Aye
[2023/08/19 09:45] Almut Brunswick: Aye
[2023/08/19 09:45] Almut Brunswick: Thank you for your confidence. Now I have to sit on that throne with the broken spring again :D
[2023/08/19 09:46] Moon Adamant: congrats Madam LRA ㋡
[2023/08/19 09:46] Rosie Gray: /me thought she patched up that broken spring
[2023/08/19 09:46] Jerry McNally: It was very weird you not being there, to be honest
[2023/08/19 09:46] Rosie Gray: thank you Almut for taking this on
[2023/08/19 09:46] Moon Adamant: lol at the broken string
[2023/08/19 09:46] Almut Brunswick: hehe, I feel it deep inside my bum
[2023/08/19 09:46] Gwyneth Llewelyn: Congrats, and ... springs??? My my. Being LRA has surely some perks! We just had a well-used cushion
[2023/08/19 09:46] Almut Brunswick: 1.4 Election of a new Pro Tempore RA Leader
[2023/08/19 09:46] Tor Karlsvalt: /me adds a cushion for the LRA to the budget
[2023/08/19 09:47] Gwyneth Llewelyn: /me winks ㋡
[2023/08/19 09:47] Jerry McNally: haha
[2023/08/19 09:47] Gwyneth Llewelyn: /me notices that these marble benches are *bare*
[2023/08/19 09:47] Almut Brunswick: I would like to propose Rosie to become my vice brat...errhmm....Pro Tempore
[2023/08/19 09:47] Tor Karlsvalt: /me and cold
[2023/08/19 09:47] Rosie Gray: haha
[2023/08/19 09:47] Gwyneth Llewelyn: /me *nods*
[2023/08/19 09:47] Moon Adamant: :-D
[2023/08/19 09:48] Sandy Burgess: I second that (means its not me having to do the job)
[2023/08/19 09:48] Rosie Gray: awh
[2023/08/19 09:48] Almut Brunswick: Any other proposals? Rosie, would you like to carry that burden?
[2023/08/19 09:48] Rosie Gray: well I accept the nomination
[2023/08/19 09:48] Jerry McNally: That's excellent
[2023/08/19 09:48] Almut Brunswick: Thank you. Let's vote then.
[2023/08/19 09:48] Jerry McNally: Aye
[2023/08/19 09:48] Sandy Burgess: aye
[2023/08/19 09:48] Rosie Gray: aye
[2023/08/19 09:49] Almut Brunswick: Congrats , Rosie, and thank you
[2023/08/19 09:49] Sandy Burgess: Congrats both of you
[2023/08/19 09:49] Tor Karlsvalt: ♫~~♫~~APPLAUSE~~♫~~♫
[2023/08/19 09:49] Sandy Burgess: And thank you
[2023/08/19 09:49] Moon Adamant: congrats Madam LR protempore ㋡
[2023/08/19 09:49] Gwyneth Llewelyn: Congrats!
[2023/08/19 09:50] Gwyneth Llewelyn: /me *applauds vigorously*!
[2023/08/19 09:50] Rosie Gray: thank you, appreciative citizens present!
[2023/08/19 09:50] Moon Adamant: two citizens today!
[2023/08/19 09:50] Almut Brunswick: wow
[2023/08/19 09:50] Jerry McNally: /me raises a hand
[2023/08/19 09:50] Gwyneth Llewelyn: /me counts
[2023/08/19 09:50] Tor Karlsvalt: lol
[2023/08/19 09:50] Almut Brunswick: Jerry please
[2023/08/19 09:50] Tor Karlsvalt: and a turkey
[2023/08/19 09:51] Gwyneth Llewelyn: /me *chuckles*
[2023/08/19 09:51] Jerry McNally: Thanks, just a question about process
[2023/08/19 09:51] Almut Brunswick: Merhaba Turkey :D
[2023/08/19 09:51] Almut Brunswick: Sure
[2023/08/19 09:51] Moon Adamant: she's an observer ㋡
[2023/08/19 09:51] Jerry McNally: Before I update this webpage https://cdsdemocracy.org/ra/ra-members/ , do we need to have something from the SC about the resignation, if that's what it is?
[2023/08/19 09:51] Moon Adamant: deeply democratic turkey!
[2023/08/19 09:52] Tor Karlsvalt: hehe
[2023/08/19 09:52] Jerry McNally: Done
[2023/08/19 09:52] Gwyneth Llewelyn: AWOL? MIA?
[2023/08/19 09:52] Rosie Gray: /me raises a hand
[2023/08/19 09:52] Almut Brunswick: Rosie please
[2023/08/19 09:53] Rosie Gray: to answer Jerry's question, no I don't think we need to do that.
[2023/08/19 09:53] Rosie Gray: done
[2023/08/19 09:53] Jerry McNally: Thanks, just wanted to check
[2023/08/19 09:54] Almut Brunswick: The change in the LRA roles will be announced in your notes. However, I think that I will contact the Dean of the SC to inform her about the change
[2023/08/19 09:54] Rosie Gray: /me notes that the Dean is online but not present
[2023/08/19 09:55] Jerry McNally: Good idea, I'll try and finish the minutes promptly, to help with that
[2023/08/19 09:55] Almut Brunswick: Then she needs to wait till after the meeting :D
[2023/08/19 09:55] Almut Brunswick: 2 Executive Report (Tor) with the presenting the Budget for the 39th Term
[2023/08/19 09:55] Tor Karlsvalt: I believe Delia stepped aside
[2023/08/19 09:55] Almut Brunswick: yes, I will address it to Calli
[2023/08/19 09:55] Rosie Gray: oh, sorry I didn't know that
[2023/08/19 09:55] Almut Brunswick: It was in the Forum
[2023/08/19 09:56] Gwyneth Llewelyn: hmm :)
[2023/08/19 09:56] Almut Brunswick: Ah, sorry, maybe a word before Tor starts
[2023/08/19 09:56] Tor Karlsvalt: sure
[2023/08/19 09:56] Gwyneth Llewelyn: /me makes a mental note to check the forums every leap year or so
[2023/08/19 09:56] Tor Karlsvalt: LOL
[2023/08/19 09:56] Jerry McNally: Here's the link to Calli's post https://forums.slcds.info/viewtopic.php?t=10399
[2023/08/19 09:56] Almut Brunswick: You have read that I wrote "with the presenting the budget", not "voting"
[2023/08/19 09:57] Almut Brunswick: That is because for voting, we would need originally at least 24 hours between announcement and voting
[2023/08/19 09:57] Rosie Gray: /me nods
[2023/08/19 09:58] Almut Brunswick: We could, however, break that rule in this case when everybody agrees we have special conditions now, since it is already August and the budget is still not approved
[2023/08/19 09:58] Almut Brunswick: Now, dear Tor, you have the stage.
[2023/08/19 09:58] Tor Karlsvalt: Perhaps you could tentatively approve it
[2023/08/19 09:58] Tor Karlsvalt: Thank you Madam LRA..
[2023/08/19 09:58] Jerry McNally: (For the transcript, here's the link to the budget proposal https://forums.slcds.info/viewtopic.php?t=10419 )
[2023/08/19 09:59] Tor Karlsvalt: I too am sorry for being rather distracted this summer. It seems retirement in RL means I have less online time. :)
[2023/08/19 09:59] Gwyneth Llewelyn: heh
[2023/08/19 09:59] Rosie Gray: :P
[2023/08/19 09:59] Tor Karlsvalt: I will rectify that.
[2023/08/19 09:59] Tor Karlsvalt: We started off well.
[2023/08/19 09:59] Tor Karlsvalt: Super in fact
[2023/08/19 09:59] Tor Karlsvalt: We had great support for SLB
[2023/08/19 10:01] Tor Karlsvalt: I have to thank all of you but sespecially Mizou for her build, Moon for her advice and help with the build, Rosie for the gardens, Sandy Burgess for her wonderful slid projection, which made great use of Jerry's pics.
[2023/08/19 10:01] Almut Brunswick: /me claps her hands
[2023/08/19 10:01] Tor Karlsvalt: It went off very well. Our party was a huge success there.
[2023/08/19 10:01] Rosie Gray: and your wonderful posters Tor!
[2023/08/19 10:01] Tor Karlsvalt: And thanks to the RA who held a meeting at the exhibit.
[2023/08/19 10:01] Moon Adamant: :-))
[2023/08/19 10:01] Tor Karlsvalt: Thank you Rosie
[2023/08/19 10:01] Almut Brunswick: attempted to :D
[2023/08/19 10:01] Sandy Burgess: There were some great pictures I got from flickr. Jerry and Rosie make great photos
[2023/08/19 10:02] Tor Karlsvalt: We hare holding steady as far a citizens.
[2023/08/19 10:02] Tor Karlsvalt: I think my current count is 75.
[2023/08/19 10:02] Tor Karlsvalt: Possibly we will have a one or two more if some tier gets paid.
[2023/08/19 10:03] Jerry McNally: /me crosses fingers
[2023/08/19 10:03] Tor Karlsvalt: We have a cabaret event planed for Aug 26th.
[2023/08/19 10:03] Tor Karlsvalt: Also, Joa will be doing his monthly seminars.
[2023/08/19 10:03] Gwyneth Llewelyn: yay!
[2023/08/19 10:03] Moon Adamant: yay ㋡
[2023/08/19 10:04] Rosie Gray: oh love those
[2023/08/19 10:04] Tor Karlsvalt: Our regular event every Tuesday at 6PM, Bea's Swing Time, has a consistent albeit small following.
[2023/08/19 10:05] Tor Karlsvalt: I have started promoting that event on about five group chat sites.
[2023/08/19 10:05] Sandy Burgess: It sadly is no good time for EU citizens
[2023/08/19 10:05] Gwyneth Llewelyn: zzz...
[2023/08/19 10:05] Tor Karlsvalt: Nice thing about that event is that it is low cost and literally makes money for us via tips.
[2023/08/19 10:05] Rosie Gray: or west-coast Canadians
[2023/08/19 10:05] Sandy Burgess: But we can promote it on the Passport groups if you push me a bit
[2023/08/19 10:05] Jerry McNally: Maybe you should promote it to insomniacs?
[2023/08/19 10:06] Tor Karlsvalt: oh good. I didn't think of the passport groups.
[2023/08/19 10:06] Tor Karlsvalt: Thanks for the suggestion.
[2023/08/19 10:06] Tor Karlsvalt: So the budget. Yes it was late in getting it ready.
[2023/08/19 10:06] Tor Karlsvalt: It is basically much like all the rest of them
[2023/08/19 10:07] Tor Karlsvalt: I have to add here that we did very well last term. We lost only $15.00.
[2023/08/19 10:07] Moon Adamant: :-D
[2023/08/19 10:07] Tor Karlsvalt: And that after taking a hit for web host fees.
[2023/08/19 10:07] Jerry McNally: (For info, here's the link to that last budget https://forums.slcds.info/viewtopic.php?t=10197 )
[2023/08/19 10:07] Rosie Gray: /me raises a hand
[2023/08/19 10:07] Tor Karlsvalt: Rosie?
[2023/08/19 10:07] Rosie Gray: looking at the budget, Tor
[2023/08/19 10:08] Gwyneth Llewelyn: /me congrats the previous Chancellorship for their strict budgeteering
[2023/08/19 10:08] Rosie Gray: unfortunately, I think you've not accounted for the domain renewal expense that we just paid
[2023/08/19 10:08] Gwyneth Llewelyn: whoops :)
[2023/08/19 10:08] Rosie Gray: probably nobody told you about it
[2023/08/19 10:08] Gwyneth Llewelyn: /me *shakes head*
[2023/08/19 10:08] Gwyneth Llewelyn: tsk tsk
[2023/08/19 10:08] Tor Karlsvalt: oh?
[2023/08/19 10:09] Tor Karlsvalt: Is that part of the web host fees?
[2023/08/19 10:09] Rosie Gray: no it's the domain renewal expense
[2023/08/19 10:09] Tor Karlsvalt: ok
[2023/08/19 10:09] Rosie Gray: that has to be paid yearly
[2023/08/19 10:09] Almut Brunswick: for the website
[2023/08/19 10:09] Rosie Gray: and we just paid it
[2023/08/19 10:09] Tor Karlsvalt: I missed that apparently on the financials.
[2023/08/19 10:09] Rosie Gray: let me find the amount and I'll tell you
[2023/08/19 10:09] Gwyneth Llewelyn: (anthing more than US$10 is a *steal*)
[2023/08/19 10:10] Tor Karlsvalt: I can add that tho.
[2023/08/19 10:11] Tor Karlsvalt: 10 USD is about L$2470.00
[2023/08/19 10:11] Gwyneth Llewelyn: /me *nods*
[2023/08/19 10:11] Rosie Gray: okay here it is: 1 year expiring June 2024 $19.99 US
[2023/08/19 10:11] Tor Karlsvalt: So we can add that mentally now.
[2023/08/19 10:11] Tor Karlsvalt: ok
[2023/08/19 10:11] Gwyneth Llewelyn: what!
[2023/08/19 10:11] Gwyneth Llewelyn: /me flags that as a steal
[2023/08/19 10:11] Rosie Gray: well it includes 'privacy', Gwyn
[2023/08/19 10:11] Tor Karlsvalt: I wonder if that is for more than one year?
[2023/08/19 10:11] Rosie Gray: no that is one year
[2023/08/19 10:11] Gwyneth Llewelyn: privacy, shmimacy
[2023/08/19 10:11] Tor Karlsvalt: lol
[2023/08/19 10:11] Jerry McNally: Sounds about right
[2023/08/19 10:11] Rosie Gray: hehe
[2023/08/19 10:12] Tor Karlsvalt: Someone told me there is no privacy in SL.
[2023/08/19 10:12] Tor Karlsvalt: but ok
[2023/08/19 10:12] Gwyneth Llewelyn: /me checks something quick
[2023/08/19 10:12] Tor Karlsvalt: so that would be an extra L$5200 or so.
[2023/08/19 10:12] Rosie Gray: https://prnt.sc/sTB6ooeX_yHD
[2023/08/19 10:13] Almut Brunswick: Proposal: Tor adds this title to the draft and presents the update at the end of our meeting, so that we could vote.
[2023/08/19 10:13] Almut Brunswick: Would it be feasible?
[2023/08/19 10:14] Sandy Burgess: Sounds good to me - I am for practicability
[2023/08/19 10:14] Rosie Gray: can it be amortized over the 2 6-month sessions?
[2023/08/19 10:14] Jerry McNally: It would be good to move on this quickly, given how far we are already into the term
[2023/08/19 10:14] Rosie Gray: /me agrees with moving quickly
[2023/08/19 10:14] Almut Brunswick: Exactly, Jerry
[2023/08/19 10:15] Almut Brunswick: So let's continue in the agenda and return to that point a bit later
[2023/08/19 10:15] Tor Karlsvalt: Sure
[2023/08/19 10:15] Almut Brunswick: 3 Land-Use Commission Report (Sandy)
[2023/08/19 10:15] Tor Karlsvalt: working on it now.
[2023/08/19 10:15] Gwyneth Llewelyn: (hrrmpf I'm being stolen as well, $10.11 for a .org annually, not $10... I blame ripflation... and aye, that's WITH as much privacy as the ICANN allows!)
[2023/08/19 10:17] Rosie Gray: I have never seen domains for $10, so you must have a secret source!
[2023/08/19 10:17] Sandy Burgess: I have not been to a LUC meeting since quite a while. Due to computer problems and holiday I have not been online much since SL20B. And I did not notice if there was one since anyway. So my report is rather short.
[2023/08/19 10:17] Sandy Burgess: Thank you
[2023/08/19 10:17] Jerry McNally: Short and sweet, as they say
[2023/08/19 10:17] Almut Brunswick: Ok, Sandy. This is the perfect introduction to our next topic :D
[2023/08/19 10:18] Almut Brunswick: 4 New Business
4.1 New Guild Act to replace the current LUC Act
[2023/08/19 10:18] Sandy Burgess: /me nods. Th thought so
[2023/08/19 10:18] Almut Brunswick: As you may know, the Guild has voted for a new Charter.
[2023/08/19 10:19] Almut Brunswick: I wondered a bit not to find more about it in the Forum so far, but the point that concerns us in the RA is that the legal status of the Guild will change to a part of the government.
[2023/08/19 10:20] Almut Brunswick: Simultaneously, the LUC will become somehow surplus. Therefore, we need to give the Guild an appropriate legal frame, and we also need to retire the LUC Act once the Guild Act will be into power.
[2023/08/19 10:20] Jerry McNally: (For info, here's the link to the Forum post about it https://forums.slcds.info/viewtopic.php?t=10414 )
[2023/08/19 10:21] Almut Brunswick: Ah great, thank you!
[2023/08/19 10:21] Rosie Gray: oh sorry, I didn't think about posting the results on the forums
[2023/08/19 10:22] Almut Brunswick: I must admit that I served a bit as a killjoy in the general excitement to work on the new charter, and I voted with "abstain" about it. This was, however, not because the Charter is bad in my eyes (the opposite is the case!), but it is not "legal" without a framing Act.
[2023/08/19 10:23] Almut Brunswick: So, in this (not too long) start-up discussion I scheduled in the agenda, I would like to agree with you on our next steps.
[2023/08/19 10:23] Sandy Burgess: I like the new Charter. Much better than all the intermediate versions I saw
[2023/08/19 10:25] Almut Brunswick: Somebody needs to volunteer to create a Guild Act that also makes clear the Guild will be the legal successor of the LUC in certain respects.
[2023/08/19 10:25] Moon Adamant: great teamwork on the new charter ㋡
[2023/08/19 10:26] Rosie Gray: yes it was!
[2023/08/19 10:26] Rosie Gray: ㋡
[2023/08/19 10:26] Jerry McNally: I have to admit to being out of my depth with this, with anything to do with building or scripting, This charter, however looks great, butI'm unsure why it would need an Act to replace the LUC.
[2023/08/19 10:27] Almut Brunswick: Jerry, when the Guild is no longer a NGO, but part of the government, it needs a legal fundation.
[2023/08/19 10:27] Sandy Burgess: Because the LUC is in the law and the Guild is an NGO atm. We need to change that
[2023/08/19 10:27] Jerry McNally: Can't we just accept the charter? (Absolutely happy to be corrected on this.)
[2023/08/19 10:27] Sandy Burgess: An NGO cannot vote to be part of government by themselves
[2023/08/19 10:27] Almut Brunswick: No, we can't. Furthermore, we need to decide what to do with the LUC. It shouldn't exist further as a useless zombie.
[2023/08/19 10:28] Sandy Burgess: Otherwise I could ´ vote myself queen of CDS
[2023/08/19 10:28] Jerry McNally: Ok, yes, fair points
[2023/08/19 10:28] Almut Brunswick: Exactly, and that was also my reason not to accept the Charter in this point. It needs a legitimation, and we are the organ to provide that.
[2023/08/19 10:29] Gwyneth Llewelyn: /me votes on Sandy
[2023/08/19 10:29] Sandy Burgess: Lol
[2023/08/19 10:29] Almut Brunswick: Once the Guild Act will be approved, the Charter needs to be adjusted in that point to refer to the Act as its basis.
[2023/08/19 10:29] Gwyneth Llewelyn: There! Now you're legit!
[2023/08/19 10:29] Rosie Gray: ㋡
[2023/08/19 10:29] Jerry McNally: So can we action someone to draft the Act?
[2023/08/19 10:30] Rosie Gray: indeed, Jerry
[2023/08/19 10:30] Rosie Gray: and have it posted for a week on the forums, before the next RA meeting to vote on it
[2023/08/19 10:30] Almut Brunswick: Since Jerry and I weren't widely not involved in creating the Charter, we could make it good by preparing the Guild Act draft.
[2023/08/19 10:30] Rosie Gray: and also to remove the LUC
[2023/08/19 10:30] Gwyneth Llewelyn: Rosie, surely you meant "Indeed: Jerry"
[2023/08/19 10:31] Gwyneth Llewelyn: (imperative)
[2023/08/19 10:31] Jerry McNally: Er....?
[2023/08/19 10:31] Almut Brunswick: Removing the LUC would need to be one article of this new Act
[2023/08/19 10:31] Gwyneth Llewelyn: /me *chuckles*
[2023/08/19 10:31] Rosie Gray: /me makes a face at Gwyn
[2023/08/19 10:31] Gwyneth Llewelyn: /me shuts up
[2023/08/19 10:31] Rosie Gray: hi Delia!
[2023/08/19 10:31] Sandy Burgess: Hello Delia
[2023/08/19 10:31] Rosie Gray: nice to see you
[2023/08/19 10:31] Moon Adamant: hi Delia ㋡
[2023/08/19 10:31] Almut Brunswick: Since we already have this elaborate Charter, the Act could be quite brief
[2023/08/19 10:31] Gwyneth Llewelyn: /me opens an exception to say hi to Delia
[2023/08/19 10:31] Almut Brunswick: Hello Delia
[2023/08/19 10:32] Delia Lake: /me whispers hello to everyone
[2023/08/19 10:33] Almut Brunswick: Jerry, what do you think? Can we make you volunteer to help creating that Act along we me and Rosie, if she likes to?
[2023/08/19 10:33] Rosie Gray: I don't mind to look it over, but I do agree that you both doing the initial draft might be best
[2023/08/19 10:34] Jerry McNally: Well, I can certainly start you off, but would defer to you and Rosie for the detail
[2023/08/19 10:34] Rosie Gray: that's fair
[2023/08/19 10:34] Almut Brunswick: That was my thought, Rosie. You in the role of the reviewer as main editor of the Charter.
[2023/08/19 10:34] Rosie Gray: okay
[2023/08/19 10:34] Rosie Gray: should we talk about it generally now?
[2023/08/19 10:34] Almut Brunswick: Do we need a formal vote or are we all clear what to do?
[2023/08/19 10:35] Almut Brunswick: Rosie, we could, but not for too long, I suggest.
[2023/08/19 10:35] Jerry McNally: /me will ask ChatGPT for a draft Act, and all will be well
[2023/08/19 10:35] Almut Brunswick: Noooo!
[2023/08/19 10:36] Tor Karlsvalt: LOL
[2023/08/19 10:36] Rosie Gray: okay, well I thought perhaps we should just see if we agree in principle to replace the LUC act with an act for the Guild to bbecome a legal part of the gov't again
[2023/08/19 10:36] Almut Brunswick: Then you better let me write the first draft in my awkward German legal English
[2023/08/19 10:36] Tor Karlsvalt: /me wonders if that is the future of democracy
[2023/08/19 10:36] Jerry McNally: /me thinks it might be, Tor!
[2023/08/19 10:37] Sandy Burgess: I agree of replacing the LUC with the Guild
[2023/08/19 10:37] Almut Brunswick: Tor, when there is already a remarkable absence in collective intelligence, how can artificial intelligence help here? :D
[2023/08/19 10:37] Gwyneth Llewelyn: For a second, I read "I agree of replacing the LUC with ChatGPT" and was going "say what?"
[2023/08/19 10:37] Rosie Gray: lol, Almut
[2023/08/19 10:37] Tor Karlsvalt: :)
[2023/08/19 10:37] Rosie Gray: lol, Gwyn!
[2023/08/19 10:37] Jerry McNally: Nice idea Gwyn!
[2023/08/19 10:38] Gwyneth Llewelyn: The opposite of artificial intelligence is natural stupidity, an endless resource and therefore cheap.
[2023/08/19 10:38] Rosie Gray: we could replace all of us with ChatGPT and be done with it!
[2023/08/19 10:38] Tor Karlsvalt: /me steps away for more tea
[2023/08/19 10:38] Sandy Burgess: I have seen scripts made by ChatGPT ... and I am dreading the day they finally work in principle ... laggy times coming
[2023/08/19 10:38] Jerry McNally: Would we notice the difference, Rosie?
[2023/08/19 10:38] Almut Brunswick: back to business please :D
[2023/08/19 10:38] Gwyneth Llewelyn: Surprisingly, that has already happened, but none of us have noticed.
[2023/08/19 10:38] Gwyneth Llewelyn: /me *coughs*
[2023/08/19 10:38] Rosie Gray: quite right, Almut
[2023/08/19 10:38] Jerry McNally: Yes, sorry Almut
[2023/08/19 10:39] Almut Brunswick: Rosie asked for a discussion about the "substance" of the future law.
[2023/08/19 10:39] Jerry McNally: If it helps with timings of this meeting, could I pick this up via email and get something drafted for the forums that way?
[2023/08/19 10:40] Tor Karlsvalt: back
[2023/08/19 10:40] Almut Brunswick: Let's start behind the curtain with an e-mail exchange and post the first draft once it is worth to be shared
[2023/08/19 10:41] Sandy Burgess: I would appreciate if we can get on - have a parallel appointment and would like to at least get a bit of it
[2023/08/19 10:41] Rosie Gray: fair enough
[2023/08/19 10:42] Almut Brunswick: My idea is to take over the rationale of the Guild from the Charter's preamble to tailor the first part of the Law. The second should clarify the succession of the LUC by the Guild.
[2023/08/19 10:42] Jerry McNally: Noted
[2023/08/19 10:43] Rosie Gray: that makes sense to me, Almut
[2023/08/19 10:43] Almut Brunswick: After the Act is approved and in power, that Charter should be adjusted accordingly ("established based on the Guild Act..." etc.)
[2023/08/19 10:43] Almut Brunswick: and then the Guild should re-vote the new version
[2023/08/19 10:44] Gwyneth Llewelyn: (if they wish...)
[2023/08/19 10:44] Almut Brunswick: This way, we can close the legal chain.
[2023/08/19 10:44] Almut Brunswick: Last step will be to retire the LUC Act by our vote.
[2023/08/19 10:45] Jerry McNally: With a retirement party?
[2023/08/19 10:45] Almut Brunswick: hahaha, Tor is now expert in this respect
[2023/08/19 10:45] Rosie Gray: :D
[2023/08/19 10:45] Tor Karlsvalt: LOL
[2023/08/19 10:45] Tor Karlsvalt: I had a nice one!
[2023/08/19 10:45] Almut Brunswick: LUC Farewell Party
[2023/08/19 10:46] Tor Karlsvalt: Maybe a cruise theme.
[2023/08/19 10:46] Tor Karlsvalt: lol
[2023/08/19 10:46] Almut Brunswick: So...do we all agree on that way? (Almut is talking too much and too long again for a real discussion)
[2023/08/19 10:46] Rosie Gray: hehe
[2023/08/19 10:46] Rosie Gray: yes I agree with that in principle
[2023/08/19 10:46] Sandy Burgess: I agree too
[2023/08/19 10:46] Jerry McNally: Yep, happy to move on
[2023/08/19 10:47] Almut Brunswick: Time frame? ASAP a draft, so that we can at least review it commonly till our next meeting? Or is it too sharp?
[2023/08/19 10:48] Rosie Gray: I think we should try and get it done ASAP
[2023/08/19 10:48] Rosie Gray: so that works for me
[2023/08/19 10:48] Almut Brunswick: Great. Then I think we can move on.
[2023/08/19 10:48] Jerry McNally: Yes let's keep the momentum going, happy to work on this quickly
[2023/08/19 10:48] Rosie Gray: it would be nice to go into the fall season with this all in place
[2023/08/19 10:48] Almut Brunswick: Perfect, thank you!
[2023/08/19 10:48] Almut Brunswick: 4.2 Call for a MoCA Curator
[2023/08/19 10:49] Almut Brunswick: I have good news in this respect: During our meeting, Kyoko IMed me
[2023/08/19 10:49] Gwyneth Llewelyn: oooh
[2023/08/19 10:49] Almut Brunswick: "Almut, I can't be there. I'm happy to be MoCA creator. I have no application, but I think my track record speaks for itself"
[2023/08/19 10:50] Gwyneth Llewelyn: uh, whatever that means lol
[2023/08/19 10:50] Gwyneth Llewelyn: /me closes her big mouth
[2023/08/19 10:50] Almut Brunswick: So our Old Artistic Ironside is willing to take the burden again. Shall we approve that?
[2023/08/19 10:50] Rosie Gray: I guess she means 'curator', not 'creator'
[2023/08/19 10:50] Gwyneth Llewelyn: /me *snickers*
[2023/08/19 10:50] Rosie Gray: /me also closes her equally big mouth
[2023/08/19 10:50] Almut Brunswick: "*Curator sheesh"
[2023/08/19 10:50] Jerry McNally: I happy with that, ticks the box
[2023/08/19 10:51] Almut Brunswick: I was about to buy her some colored chalks to create the next exhibition by herself.
[2023/08/19 10:51] Almut Brunswick: Motion to vote for dear Kyoko as MoCA Curator unless there aren't any other applications
[2023/08/19 10:52] Jerry McNally: Seconded
[2023/08/19 10:52] Almut Brunswick: Moon, are you fine with it?
[2023/08/19 10:52] Rosie Gray: /me tries giving Moon a POKE!
[2023/08/19 10:53] Sandy Burgess: second that
[2023/08/19 10:53] Sandy Burgess: oops - sorry Jerry
[2023/08/19 10:53] Moon Adamant: oops, sorry! Sure I am fine with it!
[2023/08/19 10:53] Almut Brunswick: "MOOHOOON" yells the wolf in Almut
[2023/08/19 10:53] Almut Brunswick: Ok, then let's vote
[2023/08/19 10:53] Moon Adamant: /me was discussing US politics
[2023/08/19 10:53] Gwyneth Llewelyn: pfft
[2023/08/19 10:53] Tor Karlsvalt: hehe
[2023/08/19 10:53] Sandy Burgess: aye
[2023/08/19 10:53] Almut Brunswick: aye
[2023/08/19 10:53] Rosie Gray: aye
[2023/08/19 10:54] Tor Karlsvalt: I apologize for the distraction.
[2023/08/19 10:54] Jerry McNally: Nothing good can come of that, Moon
[2023/08/19 10:54] Almut Brunswick: Jerry, your vote?
[2023/08/19 10:54] Jerry McNally: aye
[2023/08/19 10:54] Jerry McNally: (apologies)
[2023/08/19 10:54] Almut Brunswick: Thank you! My favorite kimono joke victim is the new MoCA curator!
[2023/08/19 10:55] Gwyneth Llewelyn: /me *shakes head*
[2023/08/19 10:55] Moon Adamant: cheers for Kyoko!
[2023/08/19 10:55] Almut Brunswick: YAY!
[2023/08/19 10:55] Gwyneth Llewelyn: /me wonders how many kimono jokes Almut knows
[2023/08/19 10:55] Gwyneth Llewelyn: /me *applauds vigorously*!
[2023/08/19 10:55] Tor Karlsvalt: ♫~~♫~~APPLAUSE~~♫~~♫
[2023/08/19 10:55] Almut Brunswick: (I always create new ones... Kyoko is extremely inspiring)
[2023/08/19 10:55] Almut Brunswick: 5 Citizen Concerns
[2023/08/19 10:56] Almut Brunswick: Are there any concerns on behalf of the citizenry ?
[2023/08/19 10:56] Almut Brunswick: 6 RA Member Concerns
[2023/08/19 10:57] Almut Brunswick: Looks around
[2023/08/19 10:57] Jerry McNally: I'm unconcerned, as usual
[2023/08/19 10:57] Tor Karlsvalt: /me crickets
[2023/08/19 10:57] Almut Brunswick: nah...
[2023/08/19 10:57] Rosie Gray: not from me
[2023/08/19 10:57] Sandy Burgess: No concerns from me
[2023/08/19 10:57] Almut Brunswick: Ok thank you. Then it is the right time to return to our Chancellor's updated budget
[2023/08/19 10:58] Almut Brunswick: Tor, you have the stage again
[2023/08/19 10:58] Gwyneth Llewelyn: Oops too late, I just ahd one concern but fine
[2023/08/19 10:58] Tor Karlsvalt: Thank you
[2023/08/19 10:58] Gwyneth Llewelyn: *had
[2023/08/19 10:58] Tor Karlsvalt: lol
[2023/08/19 10:58] Tor Karlsvalt: I passed you all a copy of the revised budget. Also updated the poster here and the forum.
[2023/08/19 10:59] Almut Brunswick: So please let us take a look again
[2023/08/19 10:59] Gwyneth Llewelyn: The concern was simple, actually, just for the record: if Tan is absent without leave, should be have a by-election for another seat? Done, that's it. No need for an answer *now*.
[2023/08/19 10:59] Tor Karlsvalt: I decided to take the hit this term for the entire cost of the domain name
[2023/08/19 10:59] Gwyneth Llewelyn: aww so generous of you, Tor :)
[2023/08/19 10:59] Tor Karlsvalt: ok, sorry Gwyn
[2023/08/19 10:59] Almut Brunswick: (I had the same thought, to be honest Gwyn)
[2023/08/19 10:59] Gwyneth Llewelyn: (okay!)
[2023/08/19 10:59] Rosie Gray: that is a good point, Gwyn, but we haven't had any official withdrawal
[2023/08/19 10:59] Gwyneth Llewelyn: Great minds think alike, etc.
[2023/08/19 10:59] Rosie Gray: so perhaps we can just let that one go?
[2023/08/19 10:59] Sandy Burgess: That thought has struck me too - might ask the SC
[2023/08/19 10:59] Almut Brunswick: Yes, so we cannot call a by-election
[2023/08/19 11:00] Gwyneth Llewelyn: Welllllllll I guess it's for the SC to decide what happens if a member cannot be contacted at all
[2023/08/19 11:00] Jerry McNally: That was what I was thinking, earlier
[2023/08/19 11:00] Tor Karlsvalt: Is there any provision for a seat to be declared vacant if a rep is absent for a number of meetings?
[2023/08/19 11:00] Almut Brunswick: Good point, Gwyn. Delia can maybe take that point to the next SC meeting
[2023/08/19 11:00] Rosie Gray: perhaps Delia can say something about it?
[2023/08/19 11:01] Gwyneth Llewelyn: It was easier when we had factions - the next-in-line would get the seat - but now we have no choice but to call a by-election (or keep the seat vacant)
[2023/08/19 11:01] Delia Lake: there are some meeting requirements. let me check on what that is exactly
[2023/08/19 11:01] Gwyneth Llewelyn: /me *nods* @ Delia
[2023/08/19 11:02] Delia Lake: we are close to the time limit for by-elections
[2023/08/19 11:02] Almut Brunswick: I think we can return to that point in our next meeting. In between, please notify Rosie or me what you suggest
[2023/08/19 11:02] Gwyneth Llewelyn: oh!
[2023/08/19 11:02] Almut Brunswick: So let's focus on the budget
[2023/08/19 11:02] Delia Lake: we are almost halfway through the term
[2023/08/19 11:02] Rosie Gray: /me nods
[2023/08/19 11:03] Gwyneth Llewelyn: you're quite right!
[2023/08/19 11:03] Moon Adamant: 12 days away, in fact
[2023/08/19 11:03] Delia Lake: that is probably not enough time to call for candidates and have someone elected
[2023/08/19 11:04] Almut Brunswick: hehe, we will appoint Gwyn on the fly - resistance is futile! :P
[2023/08/19 11:04] Delia Lake: we have always to allow time for citizens to challenge the census before official voting
[2023/08/19 11:04] Jerry McNally: Yeah I suggest we just drag Gywn's chair over here
[2023/08/19 11:05] Almut Brunswick: She never changed her LM anyway...
[2023/08/19 11:05] Rosie Gray: and without an official withdrawal from our compatriot, it doesn't seem completely necessary... to me anyway
[2023/08/19 11:05] Jerry McNally: LOL
[2023/08/19 11:05] Delia Lake: lol
[2023/08/19 11:05] Gwyneth Llewelyn: lol
[2023/08/19 11:05] Tor Karlsvalt: LOL
[2023/08/19 11:05] Almut Brunswick: Are you through with Tor#s spreadsheet?
[2023/08/19 11:05] Almut Brunswick: Questions?
[2023/08/19 11:05] Almut Brunswick: Rosie is right
[2023/08/19 11:06] Jerry McNally: I'm ok with it, but it does seem very different from the last term's budget in terms of "difference"
[2023/08/19 11:06] Almut Brunswick: What do the others think?
[2023/08/19 11:07] Tor Karlsvalt: /me nods.
[2023/08/19 11:07] Sandy Burgess: I have no idea about budgets. It looks plausible to me
[2023/08/19 11:07] Rosie Gray: it does run us over budget
[2023/08/19 11:07] Rosie Gray: perhaps we don't need all that for events?
[2023/08/19 11:08] Gwyneth Llewelyn: ^^
[2023/08/19 11:08] Tor Karlsvalt: We might not spend it all.
[2023/08/19 11:08] Rosie Gray: I know Oktoberfest is a big expense, but what about all the others? I don't think they are
[2023/08/19 11:08] Tor Karlsvalt: Oktoberfest is coming.
[2023/08/19 11:08] Moon Adamant: /me raises hand
[2023/08/19 11:08] Almut Brunswick: Moon please
[2023/08/19 11:09] Moon Adamant: sorry to budge in, quick comment: events bring visitors in, and in fact we run events rather cheaply. We didn't spend the event budget in term 38
[2023/08/19 11:10] Moon Adamant: and I believe same happened in the terms before.
[2023/08/19 11:10] Moon Adamant: done
[2023/08/19 11:10] Delia Lake: I need to log off and attend to rl. see you all soon
[2023/08/19 11:10] Moon Adamant: cheers Delia !
[2023/08/19 11:10] Tor Karlsvalt: I can add too that I used last terms income as the projection. That might be understated as we had a tie increase mid-term in 38
[2023/08/19 11:11] Almut Brunswick: Thank you. Wouldn't it be reasonable then to reduce the amount according to the experience made?
[2023/08/19 11:11] Tor Karlsvalt: Maybe, but I don't really have that data. And last term didn't have Oktoberfest.
[2023/08/19 11:12] Moon Adamant: start of CDS20B too
[2023/08/19 11:12] Almut Brunswick: Because it is just an assumption we probably will undercut, is it really a game stopper to approve the agenda?
[2023/08/19 11:12] Almut Brunswick: the budget*
[2023/08/19 11:13] Jerry McNally: I'm happy to proceed with this amended proposal
[2023/08/19 11:13] Almut Brunswick: Rosie?
[2023/08/19 11:13] Rosie Gray: I see that the treasurer has put $0 next to events on her report for July
[2023/08/19 11:14] Rosie Gray: so... yes I do understand that it likely wouldn't all be spent, but somehow it's nice to see a budget that isn't anticipating a deficit... if you see what I mean
[2023/08/19 11:14] Tor Karlsvalt: I didn't ask for reimbursement yet
[2023/08/19 11:14] Gwyneth Llewelyn: uh oh
[2023/08/19 11:14] Rosie Gray: oh I see...
[2023/08/19 11:14] Rosie Gray: lol, well!
[2023/08/19 11:15] Almut Brunswick: I see Rosie's point, but under these special generous conditions (thanks to Tor!) I propose to accept the budget
[2023/08/19 11:15] Jerry McNally: I'd like to second that
[2023/08/19 11:16] Almut Brunswick: Motion to accept the revised budget draft as presented
