Seventh RA Meeting of the 37th Term

Post by Almut Brunswick »

Agenda
Seventh RA Meeting of the 37th Term
Sunday (!), October 2, 2022, 12:00 PM SLT

1 Administrative Business

1.1 Approval of the Agenda

1.2 Review and approval of the Minutes of the Sixth RA Meeting on September 11, 2022

2 Executive Report (Tor)

3 Land-Use Commission Report (Agatha)

4 Old Business

4.1 Proposed addition/modification to the updated CDS Constitution. Article III, Section 3(b)

Shorty before the last RA meeting when the enacting of the revised Constitution was scheduled, the SC submitted a proposal regarding Article III, Section 3(b): https://forums.slcds.info/viewtopic.php?p=51058#p51058. We need to discuss how we should react on this proposal.

The LRA states her opinion that this request of the SC to force individual RA members giving a rationale for their vote against a presented SC candidate and subsequently even to judge their votes as "valid" or "invalid" is completely unacceptable in a democratic system, and that the SC request in its current form should thus be voted down.

This attempt to overrule RA votes in this particular case may also require further legislative actions to protect the democratic freedom of decision of the CDS citizenship - and thus of the RA members - against any external attempt of influencing and controlling from any side.

However, the concerns of the SC behind this request should be taken serious and evaluated, and alternative ways to protect the SC against blocking candidates through arbitrary "destructive" majorities should be discussed.

5 New Business

5.1 Factions Act

The revised Constitution does not contain the previous Faction Article anymore, but encompasses a respective Paragraph 3 of Article V Citizenship. It should be discussed if the regulations in this paragraph are already regarded as sufficient for the legitimation and organization of Factions, or if an additional Act should be created to cover all aspects needed.
