NL 8-6 Commerce Act

Post by Lyubov »

NL 8-6 Commerce Act – Tentative final text from Jamie Palisades- see http://forums.slcds.info/viewtopicphp?f ... 022#p12022]

The Commerce Act is here, https://cdsdemocracy.org/faqs/nl-8-6-commerce-act/

The entire text of the Act is "Tentative final text from Jamie Palisades- see http://forums.slcds.info/viewtopicphp?f ... 022#p12022]"

It has been Written to the Portal and is listed under Active Code. Is it still relevant or desirable? The Forum topic from September 2008 concerns a Chamber of Commerce, strict Commercial zones, and financial penalties for lack of active commerce. The discussion at the time does not appear to have resolved the question of the final text of the proposed law and there was some concern about the intent and potential outcomes of the law.

My feeling is that this law does not fit the current CDS and it should be repealed.

I am in full agreement with your conclusion.

I agree that this Act (or is it still a Bill?) should be repealed. I am not sure if it really matters if actual trading takes place from a commercial plot and applying the penalties detailed in the proposed Act would be counter productive and drive people away.

Agreed; this is from a time when Second Life was far different than it is now, and is pointless in our times.
