Judicial qualification applications now open

Post by Ashcroft Burnham »

Applications for qualification for judicial office in the CDS are now open. The final version of the qualification requirements can be downloaded here[/url:98kkp0w2].

The application form can be downloaded here[/url:98kkp0w2].

Applications will remain open until the [b:98kkp0w2]29th of November 2006[/b:98kkp0w2]. There might be an extension of time granted if there is significant public demand from applicants.

It is anticipated that the papers will be marked by the 6th of December 2006. The timetabling of the process thereafter is in the hands of either hte Public Judiciary Scrutiny Panel or the Representative Assembly, if there is no PJSP by that date.

Please read all the instructions on the application form carefully: failure to do so could mean unnecessarily failing the qualification process. Give yourself plenty of time to complete the questionairre, as it is quite rigerous.

Since the questionairres will be anonomysed, [i:98kkp0w2]do not send the answers directly to me[/i:98kkp0w2]. Follow the instructions on the form itself. Any queries should be posted in the Judiciary Discussion[/url:98kkp0w2] forum.

Note that all suitable candidates will be qualified, even if there are more applicants than places. It is at the appointment, not qualification, stage that the numbers will be reduced to fit the number of available places. Best wishes to all candidates.

[b:1yx83znl]Note[/b:1yx83znl]: The below is now obsolete: the documents are available from a better server.

It seems that some people have been having technical issues with these application forms. The problem seems to stem from the fact that the server truncates the filenames so that they no longer have extensions. These are PDF files. If you have trouble opening them, download them to your hard drive and manually rename them to end in ".pdf". If that does not work, post a message in "judiciary discussions" explaining what happened when you tried to open it after renaming it.

The deadline has been extended to the [b:6ngk32a7]8th of December 2006[/b:6ngk32a7]. It is unlikely to be extended further. See here[/url:6ngk32a7] for details.
