WebCollab

Post by Salzie Sachertorte »

The SPC has decided to use WebCollab, an online project management system, to manage development of the new sim.

In accordance with the decision made at Sunday's meeting, I have set up all SPC members with a WebCollab account. You should have received an email providng your user name and a temporary password. Once in, please go to Users - Edit User Details and change your password.

If you are a member of the committee and don't receive your email, please let me know.

If you would like to volunteer for the SPC and help develop the new sim, let me know and I'll set you up on Webcollab as well.

Hi:

I was reading through the latest issue of Planning and they had an article regarding facilitating community participation in the planning process through technology. Two programs stuck out, UCCASS, which is a polling applet, and dotproject, which is a application similar to Webcollab.

Considering we are lookign to promote webcollab for potential use by the CDS< I think it might be worthwhile to look at some alternatives so that we can be sure that we are choosing the best option .Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy webcollab's features, but I thought someone might be interested.

The link to the article is (probably good until august's issue): [url:e3zhzv5e]http://www.planning.org/planning/nonmember/default1.htm[/url:e3zhzv5e]

DotProject: [url:e3zhzv5e]http://www.dotproject.net/[/url:e3zhzv5e]

The main reason we went with Webcollab, really, is I've experience with it myself due to my work with Squidsoft in the Suffugium sim, and at the time we decided it was the most suited to our needs there. But our needs aren't necessarily the needs here, so I'd love to see options.
