New Charter of the Citizens' Social Democratic Faction

Post by Moon Adamant »

The New Charter of the Citizens' Social Democratic Faction *
Approved on the CSDF General Meeting of 2 Nov 2022

The Citizen Social Democratic Faction (CSDF) is a political group based in the Confederation of Democratic Simulators (CDS). We hold up the CDS Constitution and abide by the CDS code of laws. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is at the core of our ethical orientation. We sympathize with the Socialist International but reserve the privilege to acknowledge complexity beyond populistic simplifications. We believe the historical perspective is able to shed light on contemporary absurdities by attempting to explain their genesis.

Some of our values are individual freedom of choice, solidarity, diversity, and inclusion by compensation of inequalities, collective forms of ownership, and human development.

We believe that government processes must be democratic and transparent, and we apply this principle to ourselves. The CSDF is committed to self-governing communities in virtual worlds.

The Faction is open to everyone who shares our values. We are pluralistic and therefore interested in discussions with persons of other opinions, but ask those to join or found their own groups to keep a sensible structure of the general debate.

Prospective members must be ratified by a majority of existing members at a General Meeting of the Faction (GM) before they are allowed to vote.

Membership can only be withdrawn from a member of the Faction by majority vote at a General Meeting.

The Faction will hold an election for Secretary-General at least once every six months. The Secretary-General is responsible for setting an agenda for General Meetings, organizing General Meetings, and promoting the CSDF.

The Faction will hold a fortnightly General Meeting open to all members.

An Extraordinary Meeting of the Faction (EM) can be called using the SL Group voting tools. The EM will take place if 10% or more of the eligible voting members vote in favour.

The Quorum for Meetings is an absolute majority of the current membership (i.e. 50% of the total membership plus one). Voting will be by a simple majority (i.e. 50% of members present plus one).

Any faction member may propose suggestions for an amendment to the Charter. These must be announced in advance of the General Meeting. Amendments need approval by a quorate General Meeting and a favourable vote of at least 2/3 of all members present at the GM in order to pass.

Eudaimonia now!
