Chancellor Election - repolling information

Post by Callipygian »

In an attempt to break the tie in the Chancellor election the polls will reopen and qualified voters will be asked to cast or recast their vote for Chancellor.

Polling will begin at 12.01 AM SLT, Saturday May 23. Polling will end at 11.59 PM SLT on Tuesday May 26.

No votes will be carried over - all qualified voters who have registered an e-mail address will receive access to the new poll and will need to cast a vote

Qualified voters are those listed on the April Citizen List here:

http://forums.slcds.info/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=6597

and who have maintained ownership of a parcel of land continuously since that time and are current in tier payments on that parcel.

If you are a qualified voter, and registered your e-mail with Arria already, you do not need to do so again. Your access to the voting site will be sent to that e-mail address.

If you are a qualified voter who did NOT register your e-mail with Arria for the original poll, you must do so if you intend to vote now. Submit your e-mail to Arria Perreault, by notecard. Title the notecard E-mail address for (Your SL name as it appears on the Citizen List) and provide your email address in the text of the notecard.

Arria will accept notecards until 12 noon SLT , Saturday May 23. Ensure your e-mail is sent to her by that time if you intend to cast a vote.

OpaVote has the ability to randomly select a winner when an election ends in a tied vote. If both candidates are in agreement, this option will be used to identify a winner, should the poll result be another tie.

People often say that, in a democracy, decisions are made by a majority of the people. Of course, that is not true. Decisions are made by a majority of those who make themselves heard and who vote -- a very different thing.
