[2019/06/18 13:06] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Thank you Rosie and Em.
[2019/06/18 13:06] Laura Azalee: two seconds!
[2019/06/18 13:06] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): Better than none :)
[2019/06/18 13:06] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Now, please vote to approve the minutes as posted to the Forum.
[2019/06/18 13:06] Laura Azalee: lol
[2019/06/18 13:06] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Aye
[2019/06/18 13:06] MadmaxSoulLover Resident: Aye
[2019/06/18 13:06] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): Aye
[2019/06/18 13:06] Laura Azalee: aye
[2019/06/18 13:06] Rosie Gray: I thought that's what we just voted on
[2019/06/18 13:06] Rosie Gray: oops sorry
[2019/06/18 13:06] Rosie Gray: aye
[2019/06/18 13:07] Rosie Gray: /me screws her head on a bit tighter
[2019/06/18 13:07] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Next item, Executive Report. Do we have an Executive representative available to present a report?
[2019/06/18 13:08] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): I do not believe so, therefore "No Report". I would however like to open the discussion about the proposed budget.
[2019/06/18 13:08] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Discuss proposed budget for 31st term,
[2019/06/18 13:09] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): At our last meeting, the Chancellor indicated that the 5k L$ per month line item was intended for "sim improvements", to be determined at a future date by the LUC.
[2019/06/18 13:10] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Rosie, there is a LUC meeting scheduled for Sunday. Do you have any thoughts about this budget item at this time?
[2019/06/18 13:10] Rosie Gray: not at this time, no
[2019/06/18 13:10] Laura Azalee: me neither
[2019/06/18 13:11] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): I also have a question about the Advertising fees. At 7k per month, this is nearly USD 200 per term. I am not sure what value we have obtained from the previous term's advertising expenses.
[2019/06/18 13:12] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Would anyone, perhaps an EM present, have a better understanding of how this has been effective, or not?
[2019/06/18 13:12] Rosie Gray: raises a hand
[2019/06/18 13:12] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Yes Rosie, please?
[2019/06/18 13:13] Rosie Gray: I do think that the advertising in Strawberry Singh's blog was effective
[2019/06/18 13:13] Rosie Gray: the museum ladies saw the CDS there, and that's how they ended up here
[2019/06/18 13:13] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): That is great feedback Rosie, thank you!
[2019/06/18 13:13] Rosie Gray: so, I think it is worthwhile to do something
[2019/06/18 13:14] MadmaxSoulLover Resident: Raises hand
[2019/06/18 13:15] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Yes, i was considering the fact that USD 200 is quite a lot of monthly sqm of tier to make the expense valuable
[2019/06/18 13:15] Rosie Gray: not monthly
[2019/06/18 13:16] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Well, 7k per month... that is still a couple 1024sqm parcels each month....
[2019/06/18 13:17] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Does anyone else have any comments about the proposed budget?
[2019/06/18 13:17] Rosie Gray: just to note
[2019/06/18 13:17] Rosie Gray: that it is L$7,000 per month
[2019/06/18 13:17] Rosie Gray: which I don't think is too much
[2019/06/18 13:17] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): it is a bit of a gamble..it could pay off, but it could also be a loss in the short run
[2019/06/18 13:18] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): In the end I think we need that kind of advertising
[2019/06/18 13:18] Rosie Gray: L$7,000 is about US $29 per month
[2019/06/18 13:18] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Perhaps the main point, is whether or not we receive sufficient new tier-paying Citizens to recover the cost....simply visability on those platforms is worthwhile?
[2019/06/18 13:19] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): oh sorry Max, you had raised your hand...
[2019/06/18 13:19] MadmaxSoulLover Resident: Just a comment, On a personal note for the marketing, It was the ads for land through market place is how Kali and I found CDS.
[2019/06/18 13:19] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): smiles
[2019/06/18 13:19] Rosie Gray: good to know, Max!
[2019/06/18 13:19] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Yes Max, it is the Marketplace land ads that also led me to CDS :)
[2019/06/18 13:20] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): I motion that we approve the Chancellor'
[2019/06/18 13:20] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): s budget for the 31st term, as presented at
[2019/06/18 13:20] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): Second
[2019/06/18 13:20] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Thank you Em.
[2019/06/18 13:21] Rosie Gray: raises a hand
[2019/06/18 13:21] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Would anyone like any further discussion about the budget before we proceed to a vote?
[2019/06/18 13:21] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Yes Rosie?
[2019/06/18 13:21] Rosie Gray: thanks Lyubov
[2019/06/18 13:21] Laura Azalee: is offline.
[2019/06/18 13:21] Rosie Gray: I am a bit reluctant to bring this up
[2019/06/18 13:21] Laura Azalee: left the region.
[2019/06/18 13:21] Rosie Gray: but, we just had to pay for the website hosting and domain renewals
[2019/06/18 13:22] Rosie Gray: I'm not sure why we haven't had these in the budgets before
[2019/06/18 13:22] Rosie Gray: they are substantial for our SL budgets
[2019/06/18 13:22] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Those are certainly recurring costs that should be accounted
[2019/06/18 13:22] Rosie Gray: but I don't want to hold up this budget which is for inworld management
[2019/06/18 13:23] Rosie Gray: when paying the domain and hosting fees, you pay for a year, so in theory the amounts should be represented by 1/2 in each six-month budget
[2019/06/18 13:23] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): I thought I may have caught something in the Treasurer's report that considered those costs, I will have to look...
[2019/06/18 13:24] Rosie Gray: however, without the Treasurer or the Chancellor here to discuss it, I thought it best to just mention it here
[2019/06/18 13:24] Rosie Gray: obviously this has been dealt with for years somehow
[2019/06/18 13:24] Lilith Ivory: yes the last expenses for portal hosting are in the may report 2018
[2019/06/18 13:24] Rosie Gray: right, it's always represented on the Treasurer's report, so why not in the budget I don't know
[2019/06/18 13:25] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Yes, that might be in Software and Equipment?
[2019/06/18 13:25] Rosie Gray: and I am in no way blaming our current Chancellor, since it has never been in any budget
[2019/06/18 13:26] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): I have a faint memory of this being discussed in the RA long ago, but I can't remember what the conclusion was...
[2019/06/18 13:26] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): No sorry, maybe under Expenses it is under Events and Community Expenses, but that is only 11k/month...and if advertising is 7k of that, this doens't sound right.
[2019/06/18 13:27] Lilith Ivory: yes, a long time ago the RA aproved those yearly payments
[2019/06/18 13:27] Rosie Gray: I am reminded that we USED to have free hosting and domain renewal when it was packaged on the same server as the forums
[2019/06/18 13:27] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): FYI, this is the May 2019 report for reference https://cdsdemocracy.org/wp-content/upl ... 201905.pdf
[2019/06/18 13:27] Pip Torok: raises hand
[2019/06/18 13:28] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): I also would not with to hold up the budget, but this does appear to be a large, known, recurring expese that should be properly budgeted.
[2019/06/18 13:28] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Yes Pip?
[2019/06/18 13:29] Pip Torok: may i suggest that we include universities and colleges among those to who we advertise ourselves? done
[2019/06/18 13:29] Pip Torok: done
[2019/06/18 13:29] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Thank you Pip.
[2019/06/18 13:31] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): I withdraw my previous motion to approve the current budget.
[2019/06/18 13:31] Rosie Gray: raises a hand
[2019/06/18 13:32] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Yes Rosie?
[2019/06/18 13:32] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): I withdraw my seconding of the same
[2019/06/18 13:32] Rosie Gray: I would like to motion that we ask the Chancellor, upon her return from holiday, to include 6 months expenses of the website hosting & domain renewals in the CDS Budget
[2019/06/18 13:33] Laura Azalee: is online.
[2019/06/18 13:33] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Second
[2019/06/18 13:33] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Thank you Rosie.
[2019/06/18 13:33] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Would anyone like to further discuss Rosie's motion?
[2019/06/18 13:33] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Yes Rosie?
[2019/06/18 13:33] Rosie Gray: recognizing that this will leave very little for anything else :(
[2019/06/18 13:34] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): What little is left? The cause by the delay, or the impact of the hosting fees?
[2019/06/18 13:34] Rosie Gray: the impact of the hosting fees
[2019/06/18 13:34] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): Maybe the Chancellor will have to make changes in the budget to accommodate this
[2019/06/18 13:34] Rosie Gray: anyway, pointless to talk about that now since we will need to have the Chancellor to look at it
[2019/06/18 13:35] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Then I feel that it is all the more important that such an impactful expense must be shown in the budget.
[2019/06/18 13:35] Rosie Gray: agreed
[2019/06/18 13:35] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): If there are no further comments, I would like to move to a vote....
[2019/06/18 13:35] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Yes Em?
[2019/06/18 13:36] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): Perhaps we should have a motion that these expenses are icluded in the budget from here on
[2019/06/18 13:37] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): It need to be stated clearly, if that is what we want
[2019/06/18 13:37] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): The current motion on the table is "that we ask the Chancellor, upon her return from holiday, to include 6 months expenses of the website hosting & domain renewals in the CDS Budget"
[2019/06/18 13:38] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): I move that we decide that this will be the case from now on
[2019/06/18 13:38] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): It does sound like a good idea Em, to include all appropriate expenses, especially as this one in particular my impact other budget items.
[2019/06/18 13:38] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): The alternative is to ask the chancellor every term
[2019/06/18 13:38] Laura Azalee: entered chat range (17.93 m).
[2019/06/18 13:39] Laura Azalee: sorry guys
[2019/06/18 13:39] Rosie Gray: wb Laura
[2019/06/18 13:39] Laura Azalee: ty
[2019/06/18 13:39] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): Welcome back Laura
[2019/06/18 13:39] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): I do agree Em, this should always be included.
[2019/06/18 13:40] Rosie Gray: I think it wasn't included because it's never been included and nobody thought about it
[2019/06/18 13:40] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): MadMax and Laura- what is your opinion on this?
[2019/06/18 13:40] Laura Azalee: I am sorry, I just came back, no idea what you are talking about...
[2019/06/18 13:40] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): So, we have two proposed motions. First, to ammend the current budget, and second to list this item in all future budgets.
[2019/06/18 13:40] Laura Azalee: what item?
[2019/06/18 13:41] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Rosie has presented the motion "that we ask the Chancellor, upon her return from holiday, to include 6 months expenses of the website hosting & domain renewals in the CDS Budget"
[2019/06/18 13:41] Laura Azalee: ok
[2019/06/18 13:41] Laura Azalee: ty
[2019/06/18 13:41] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): The current chancellor's budget fails to include the siginificant expense of web hosting. This appears to have been a long-running oversight.
[2019/06/18 13:42] Laura Azalee: yes - it should be included too
[2019/06/18 13:42] MadmaxSoulLover Resident: I think it is a good idea to include it in each budget so the expenses are laid out and can be accounted for accordingly
[2019/06/18 13:42] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Em has presented a second motion, that all future budgets include this line item.
[2019/06/18 13:43] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): And also our fee to Linden Labs
[2019/06/18 13:43] Laura Azalee: that is on the budget?
[2019/06/18 13:43] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): It is not at present
[2019/06/18 13:43] Laura Azalee: oh
[2019/06/18 13:43] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Yes, the 3.5% is the cost of converting our L$ tier payments to USD that LL requires.
[2019/06/18 13:44] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Are you thinking of something else Em?
[2019/06/18 13:44] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): No, thank you
[2019/06/18 13:44] Rosie Gray: I'll second Em's motion
[2019/06/18 13:44] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Thank you Rosie.
[2019/06/18 13:45] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): So, the Linden Tier is the L$ fee (which must be converted to USD) for the regions, and then the next item Conversion Charge is the 3.5% that LL charges in addition to convert our L$ to USD.
[2019/06/18 13:46] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Are there any other comments or quetions? I would like to proceed to a vote first on Rosie's motion, then on Em's...
[2019/06/18 13:46] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): Perhaps we could have both?
[2019/06/18 13:46] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Yes, it would be possible to approve both motions :)
[2019/06/18 13:47] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): We certainly need to ask the Chancellor to include it in the budget for this term
[2019/06/18 13:47] Laura Azalee: they are complementary actually
[2019/06/18 13:47] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): yes
[2019/06/18 13:47] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Yes, first direct the Chancellor to amend the current budget, then state that all future budgets must be inclusive.
[2019/06/18 13:48] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): Agree
[2019/06/18 13:48] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Thank you.
[2019/06/18 13:48] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Please vote that we ask the Chancellor, upon her return from holiday, to include 6 months expenses of the website hosting & domain renewals in the CDS Budget
[2019/06/18 13:48] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Aye
[2019/06/18 13:48] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): Aye
[2019/06/18 13:48] Rosie Gray: aye
[2019/06/18 13:48] Laura Azalee: aye
[2019/06/18 13:48] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Max?
[2019/06/18 13:49] MadmaxSoulLover Resident: Aye
[2019/06/18 13:49] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Thank you, the motion passes.
[2019/06/18 13:50] Rosie Gray: raises a hand
[2019/06/18 13:50] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): yes Rosie?
[2019/06/18 13:50] Rosie Gray: thanks, I would just like to add an apology to Kyoko who isn't here, that nobody thought of this before and has created this situation for her.
[2019/06/18 13:50] Rosie Gray: done
[2019/06/18 13:51] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): I'll cite that in the minutes
[2019/06/18 13:52] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Thank you Rosie, clearly it is not an intentional oversight and it has been a long-running one...but always good to make corrections when we become aware :)
[2019/06/18 13:52] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Next, Em stated "Perhaps we should have a motion that these expenses are icluded in the budget from here on
I move that we decide that this will be the case from now on"
[2019/06/18 13:53] Laura Azalee: second
[2019/06/18 13:53] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Thank you Laura.
[2019/06/18 13:54] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Please vote, "Perhaps we should have a motion that these expenses are icluded in the budget from here on
I move that we decide that this will be the case from now on"
[2019/06/18 13:54] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Aye
[2019/06/18 13:54] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): Aye
[2019/06/18 13:54] Laura Azalee: aye
[2019/06/18 13:54] Rosie Gray: aye
[2019/06/18 13:54] MadmaxSoulLover Resident: Aye
[2019/06/18 13:54] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Thank you all, the motion passes.
[2019/06/18 13:55] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Next item on the agenda is a Report on the LUC. Rosie, could you present a status please?
[2019/06/18 13:55] Rosie Gray: surely
[2019/06/18 13:55] Rosie Gray: the LUC will convene to meet this coming Sunday at 9 am SLT
[2019/06/18 13:56] Rosie Gray: and in the meantime, Cathy and I have made a start on reviewing Locus Amoenus
[2019/06/18 13:56] Rosie Gray: which was supposed to have been done last term but wasn't
[2019/06/18 13:56] Rosie Gray: done
[2019/06/18 13:56] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Thank you Rosie.
[2019/06/18 13:56] Lilith Ivory: raises her hand
[2019/06/18 13:56] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Yes Lilith?
[2019/06/18 13:57] Lilith Ivory: I would like to ask Rosie to correct her announcement on the forum so it is clear we meet on sunday and not monday :)
[2019/06/18 13:57] Rosie Gray: blushes
[2019/06/18 13:57] Rosie Gray: I saw your comment about that and have already noted it on the forum
[2019/06/18 13:58] Lilith Ivory: thank you Rosie :)
[2019/06/18 13:58] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): We will table the remaining items under the LUC report, and look forward to a more complete discussion at our next RA meeting, following the LUC meeting :)
[2019/06/18 13:59] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): I motion that we table these remaining items until after the next scheduled LUC meeting.
[2019/06/18 13:59] Rosie Gray: second the motion
[2019/06/18 14:00] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Thank you Rosie.
[2019/06/18 14:00] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Please vote to table these remaining items until after the next scheduled LUC meeting.
[2019/06/18 14:00] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Aye
[2019/06/18 14:00] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): Aye
[2019/06/18 14:00] Rosie Gray: aye
[2019/06/18 14:00] Laura Azalee: aye
[2019/06/18 14:00] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Max?
[2019/06/18 14:00] MadmaxSoulLover Resident: Aye
[2019/06/18 14:00] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Thank you, the motion Passes.
[2019/06/18 14:01] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Our next agenda item is Citizen Concerns. Would any Citizen like to speak now?
[2019/06/18 14:01] Pip Torok: raises hand
[2019/06/18 14:01] Lilith Ivory: is not concerned
[2019/06/18 14:01] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Yes Pip?
[2019/06/18 14:03] Pip Torok: just to say that nailah was in CDS till yesterday adn I will try to inverigle her back in as she is potentially someone who will contribute ... done
[2019/06/18 14:03] Rosie Gray: oh nice!
[2019/06/18 14:03] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Thank you Pip, that would be wonderful
[2019/06/18 14:04] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Our next item is RA member concerns. Any RA comments?
[2019/06/18 14:04] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): I have a suggestion.
[2019/06/18 14:04] Laura Azalee: not me
[2019/06/18 14:04] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Yes Em?
[2019/06/18 14:05] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): We ought to find someone to take care of the Democracy wall, since the people who were responsible have retreated from the responsibility
[2019/06/18 14:05] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Oh! I never knew who managed the Wall...
[2019/06/18 14:06] Rosie Gray: I don't think it needs much managing, really
[2019/06/18 14:06] Rosie Gray: what are you thinking, Em?
[2019/06/18 14:06] Pip Torok: it was Cadence Theas and/or Guillaume
[2019/06/18 14:06] Lilith Ivory: I think old posters were taken down once in a while to give room for new ones
[2019/06/18 14:07] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): It was cleansed regularly, so other people could put up things there. Now you don't dare to delete things that are already there
[2019/06/18 14:07] Rosie Gray: ah, I think that anytime any citizen wants to, they can just put up a new one over top of an old one
[2019/06/18 14:07] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Yes Em, I would never touch the wall, but I am full of themes I might wish to post! :)
[2019/06/18 14:08] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): That could possibly provoke bad feelings :)
[2019/06/18 14:08] Pip Torok: the wall's function was to rellieve popular pressure among the citizens ... its inactivity suggests it has outgrown its orioginal purpose
[2019/06/18 14:08] Rosie Gray: I still use it Pip
[2019/06/18 14:08] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): (To post over other peoples posters,)
[2019/06/18 14:08] Laura Azalee: it's still very good to see pip!
[2019/06/18 14:09] Pip Torok: then i siggest the wall has _not_ outgrown that purpose
[2019/06/18 14:09] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): Well- it was just a suggestion...
[2019/06/18 14:09] Rosie Gray: :D
[2019/06/18 14:10] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): i do like the idea Em...and i would like to be able to use it, but also understand the rules about it
[2019/06/18 14:10] Rosie Gray: raises a hand
[2019/06/18 14:10] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Yes Rosie?
[2019/06/18 14:10] Rosie Gray: ㋡
[2019/06/18 14:10] Rosie Gray: there really aren't any rules around it
[2019/06/18 14:11] Rosie Gray: except that it's for CDS citizen's expressions
[2019/06/18 14:11] Rosie Gray: I think it's perfectly fine to cover up a poster you've seen there for months with something new
[2019/06/18 14:11] Laura Azalee: I enjoy reading it every time I got there
[2019/06/18 14:11] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): And of course it must not go against the TOS
[2019/06/18 14:11] Rosie Gray: so do I, Laura
[2019/06/18 14:11] Lilith Ivory: lol, perhaps we/you can create a poster saying all citizens are free to replace the existing posters
[2019/06/18 14:11] Rosie Gray: oh, yes of course that too Em!
[2019/06/18 14:11] Pip Torok: IMO rules wd constrain its purpose
[2019/06/18 14:11] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): hmm, maybe we could have a simple touch for info notecard giver
[2019/06/18 14:12] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): yes Lilith! :)
[2019/06/18 14:12] Rosie Gray: I agree with Pip
[2019/06/18 14:12] Rosie Gray: that's a good idea, Lyubov
[2019/06/18 14:13] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): yes, not really "rules" but an obvious notecard giver "all citizens are free to post...and over-post...."
[2019/06/18 14:13] Pip Torok: and _every citizen and friend is automatically free to use it
[2019/06/18 14:14] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): I somehow feel that it would be better to rease everything once a month or something like that. I would not like it if I posted something one day, and sombody else hided it behind his/her own poster the next day
[2019/06/18 14:14] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): *erase
[2019/06/18 14:15] Rosie Gray: there is a certain amount of politeness expected ;)
[2019/06/18 14:15] Pip Torok: (remembers that Chinese RL citizens never asked for permission that they wd certainly NOT have received imho
[2019/06/18 14:15] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): We could put that in the info card :)
[2019/06/18 14:15] Rosie Gray: ㋡
[2019/06/18 14:16] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): ok, i am watching the time, 75 of our planned 90 minutes already....the budget required more discussion than expected....
[2019/06/18 14:16] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): Done!
[2019/06/18 14:17] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Em, Rosie, is there some sort of Motion about what we would like to do with the wall? Could someone create this notecard? Or continue discussions outside of this meeting?
[2019/06/18 14:17] Rosie Gray: we can deal with it outside this meeting
[2019/06/18 14:17] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): Agree
[2019/06/18 14:17] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): sounds good! :)
[2019/06/18 14:17] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Thank you Em, great suggestion
[2019/06/18 14:18] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): I would like to first preview our remaining agenda items:
[2019/06/18 14:19] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): MoCA under Old Business...still nothing new on the Forum...New Business...many items are intended to set our topics for the term....but Sudane did make a Forum post about the Financial Reserves Act.
[2019/06/18 14:19] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): So, moving on to Old Business...MoCA...
[2019/06/18 14:19] Rosie Gray: waves hello to Cathy
[2019/06/18 14:20] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): At the last meeting, the Chancellor reported that she has control of the Archive Avatar for MoCA
[2019/06/18 14:20] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): Hi Cathy :)
[2019/06/18 14:20] Laura Azalee: hi Cathy
[2019/06/18 14:20] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): I have not heard anything however about a scheduled meeting for the Working Group
[2019/06/18 14:20] Cathy Sabre: Hello
[2019/06/18 14:20] Cathy Sabre: want to support the RA
[2019/06/18 14:20] Laura Azalee: thank you Cathy °͜°
[2019/06/18 14:21] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): I am starting to suspect that MoCA is a "nice" thing to have, no one wants it to be removed, but then no one is actually working to actively do anything about it.
[2019/06/18 14:21] Rosie Gray: laughs
[2019/06/18 14:21] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): raises hand
[2019/06/18 14:22] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): A museum to a museum of contemporary art, circa 2008....
[2019/06/18 14:22] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Yes Em?
[2019/06/18 14:22] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): Kyoko said something about summoning the group when she is back.... Maybe we should give it one more chance
[2019/06/18 14:23] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): One last chance...
[2019/06/18 14:23] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Yes, I think it is fair to wait until the next RA meeting after her return.
[2019/06/18 14:23] Rosie Gray: nothing happens quickly in the CDS, especially with regards to legacy programs
[2019/06/18 14:23] Laura Azalee: I agree
[2019/06/18 14:23] Pip Torok: amen to that !
[2019/06/18 14:24] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): This has been on our agenda for 8 or 9 months now....and at least I had hoped to have some sort of refreshed exhibition by our Octoberfest
[2019/06/18 14:24] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): But looking at the clock, we'll talk about this next time...
[2019/06/18 14:25] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): I will make an effort to share some thoughts on the topic on the Forum.
[2019/06/18 14:25] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): Thank you, Lyubov
[2019/06/18 14:25] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Under New Business, we started a review of the Financial Reserves Act
[2019/06/18 14:26] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Initially, this was intended to be a simple "change City to NFS" project :)
[2019/06/18 14:26] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): sorry "City to CDS"
[2019/06/18 14:26] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Sudane's forum post about the topic has brought to light many complicating factors.
[2019/06/18 14:27] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): The link to her post is also in the agenda, http://forums.slcds.info/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=9023
[2019/06/18 14:27] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): The Treasurer Act and the Estate Owner Act may also need to be considered.
[2019/06/18 14:27] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): A much bigger project!
[2019/06/18 14:28] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): Almost a "Mission impossible"...
[2019/06/18 14:28] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): It does seem important, and something that Sudane has considered, and struggled over
[2019/06/18 14:29] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): For our next meeting....
[2019/06/18 14:29] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): the other two New Business items...update campaign laws and remove archaic references...
[2019/06/18 14:29] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Would anyone be able to help identify areas in the law that we should update?
[2019/06/18 14:30] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Rosie, I believe, that is the main challenge in this project: simply identify areas that need to be updated?
[2019/06/18 14:30] Rosie Gray: I think so
[2019/06/18 14:30] Rosie Gray: we can do this on the forums, I think
[2019/06/18 14:30] Lilith Ivory: sadly I need to go now
[2019/06/18 14:30] Lilith Ivory: bye all
[2019/06/18 14:31] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): Is our Law revision group still alive?
[2019/06/18 14:31] Pip Torok: bye Lilith
[2019/06/18 14:31] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): Bye Lilith. Take care!
[2019/06/18 14:31] Laura Azalee: bye Llith
[2019/06/18 14:31] Rosie Gray: bye Lilith!
[2019/06/18 14:31] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Mmm good idea Rosie. We can ask via the Forum for areas that need to be updated?
[2019/06/18 14:31] Rosie Gray: How about I draft a suggested update and people can comment on it?
[2019/06/18 14:32] Rosie Gray: I don't think we want to change the intent, just some of the outdated wording
[2019/06/18 14:32] Pip Torok: a good start I shd think
[2019/06/18 14:32] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Are you speaking only about the Financial Reserves Act?
[2019/06/18 14:32] Rosie Gray: no!
[2019/06/18 14:32] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): ok good! :)
[2019/06/18 14:32] Rosie Gray: I'm speaking about 7.2 and 7.3
[2019/06/18 14:33] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): ok perfect! Thank you Rosie!
[2019/06/18 14:33] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): Thank you Rosie!
[2019/06/18 14:33] Rosie Gray: well, could do the Financial Reserves Act too, but all I want to change is the word City to CDS
[2019/06/18 14:33] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): yes, that was your orginal plan! :)
[2019/06/18 14:33] Rosie Gray: :D
[2019/06/18 14:34] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Given Sudane's post, I attempted to not change anything that she does in practice, but to more clearly state it in the Act...which seems to quickly become complicated....
[2019/06/18 14:35] Rosie Gray: personally, I don't think that making something a law that is common business practice for us is really necessary
[2019/06/18 14:35] Rosie Gray: and, as you say... very complicated
[2019/06/18 14:35] Pip Torok: agrees
[2019/06/18 14:35] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): it's common business as long as we have sudane :)
[2019/06/18 14:35] Rosie Gray: if you make it a law and then it's wrong, you've got a problem
[2019/06/18 14:36] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Yes, I'm thinking now a better process: do the "easy" updates, including "City" to "CDS" in the Financial Reserves Act...and tackle the entire Treasurer/Estate Owner issue as a separate item.
[2019/06/18 14:37] Rosie Gray: that makes sense to me
[2019/06/18 14:37] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): ok i like that too
[2019/06/18 14:37] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Any other thoughts before we move on?
[2019/06/18 14:37] Pip Torok: YAY Lyubov
[2019/06/18 14:37] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Thank you Pip :)
[2019/06/18 14:37] Em Warden (EmWarden Resident): None from me
[2019/06/18 14:37] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): General Announcements:

[2019/06/18 14:38] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): as already mentioned :)

[2019/06/18 14:39] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): My annual Premium is due 26 June, so I will just renew a few days early.
[2019/06/18 14:39] Laura Azalee: I think that is only for yearly?
[2019/06/18 14:39] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): You can pay your current rate for one more term....monthly, quarterly, or yearly
[2019/06/18 14:39] Laura Azalee: ah

[2019/06/18 14:40] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Kyoko is returning around 5 July?
[2019/06/18 14:41] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): There is also a US holiday around the 4th
[2019/06/18 14:41] Pip Torok: well well !
[2019/06/18 14:41] Laura Azalee: we could meet the following week then
[2019/06/18 14:41] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Rosie, what are your thoughts?
[2019/06/18 14:42] Rosie Gray: sounds reasonable
[2019/06/18 14:42] Rosie Gray: July 9th, perhaps?
[2019/06/18 14:42] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Ok, Kyoko returns 2 July
[2019/06/18 14:42] Laura Azalee: July 9th would be fine for me
[2019/06/18 14:42] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): We can return to the Monday, or continue wiht our Tuesdays
[2019/06/18 14:43] Laura Azalee: Monday noon?
[2019/06/18 14:43] Rosie Gray: either is fine for me

[2019/06/18 14:43] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): yes i would prefer monday, I will be traveling later that week

[2019/06/18 14:44] Lyubov (20180414 Resident): Monday 8 July at 1200 SLT?
