Announcement - Group Citizenship Option

Post by Lyubov »

At the 10 March RA meeting, changes were approved to enable an option for CDS-registered owners of group deeded land to be full Citizens, allowed to vote and run for office. This is not an automatic entitlement. A formal registration process is required to ensure the capture of technical details necessary for administration, and to enable a means of transparency to the community.

Two laws required change to enable this option, "CDSL 16-03 Citizenship Establishment Act" and "CDSL 16-04 Citizenship membership publication for election purposes". The process is detailed in CDSL 16-03, "7. CDS Group Registration Process".

If you are interested in exercising this option, please carefully review these two laws and direct your application to the Chancellor via notecard with a copy to the Dean.

Please note: You must own a parcel in your individual name before the next official census on 10 April or apply through the CDS Group Registration Process to be eligible to vote. If all of your parcels are deeded to a group, you are Not eligible to run for office or to vote, unless you complete the process. The other voting criteria also remain in effect, including the requirement that tier must be current.
