Return of Government Question Hour

As previously posted under Executive Announcements, this concerns the return of the mandated Government Question Hour, which states that a minimum of one representative of each of our three branches of government (Representative, Executive and Philosophical) be available for an hour each month in a publicly announced time and place, for the purpose of giving easy access to the Citizens and friends for their convenience in asking questions or pursuing discussion about governance or any issues they may wish to discuss.

I invite your discussion here about time and place.

My availability is on Sundays.

Thank you, and I look forward to announcing our first Government Question Hour very soon.

Chancellor Emilia

In conversation elsewhere, the trend is toward meeting sometime on Sunday, February 16th.
It might also be the following Sunday, February 25th.

It might even be at such short notice as tomorrow (today, already?) February 2nd, but it would only be a dress rehearsal. Just come in your robe and slippers, pajamas, whatever.

Even as I respect and honor the law as it is, I believe sporadic and spontaneous expressions of zeal must be allowed and even encouraged.

Please, everyone, discuss here.
Cheers, Emilia

We have agreement between RA and SC to meet Sunday, February 16 at 0900 SLT for the Government Question Hour..
For the first meeting, let's gather in the Chancellor's Office.

Be casual, be comfortable. Bring your questions, or just bring curiosity.

We'll have coffee and cupcakes and conversation for an hour.

Too early for me, although never say never -hope it goes great, though.

Check with Lilith, but I think you'll need to save (and post) a transcript of the meeting. Required or not it would still be a good idea anyway.

I'll be there in spirit if not in avatar and spirit! 8)

NL 7-1 Government Question Hour Act states that:
5. The Chair will post a transcript of the meeting to the CDS forums, which may also include a summary of the content of the meeting. At the start, participants shall be informed that a transcript will be posted.

Thank you, Lilith. Noted, and I would appreciate one of those transcription boxes, if possible, or I will hope to maintain a stable connection and produce a simple copy/pasted transcript from Local Chat.

if I'm able to make it (it looks about 50/50 chance of that rn) I'll be happy to take once. Maybe someone else can offer to save one too?

I just had a weird idea (appropriate, since it's 3am). I wonder if one of the bot services in SL would be able to rent us a bot we could use for various transcripts -they could attend and save transcripts?

That might solve some problems if so.

For those who don't know how to use it, there is a Firestorm feature that makes it easy to capture transcripts. Here's how you do it:

1) Avatar -> Preferences -> Privacy then use the Save drop-down menu to select Log and transcripts. Then check the 4 options underneath that. This will initiate the saving of your logs.

2) Avatar -> Preferences -> Network & Files ->Directories Then you can click 'Set' next to the Conversation logs and transcripts location and set where you want to keep your transcripts. It's a good idea to create a different folder from the default, so that you won't accidentally delete them when doing a viewer upgrade.

3) bOnce you have your directory set, you can go to that same Directories window and click the 'open' button and it will take you to your directory where you will find all of your day's transcripts. For the open chat transcript, look for the one called 'chat-2020-xx-xx There will also be the transcripts of your IMs and group chats (only from when you are online!).

Hope that helps!

Summary of the 16 February Government Question Hour, as posted by Chancellor Emilia to the in-world CDS group on 16 February.

GQH, 16 February 16, 2020, was well attended in the Chancellor’s Office, with notes of citrus and shades of the tropics, which made the traditional paneling pop. We discussed the early spring and snow melt bestowed by our weather goddess, Delia. We got excited about the potential of vendors visiting our sims during the week of International Woman’s Day on March 8th. Lyubov is presenting this event, and it promises to be full of music and fun. I suggested a topless march and was quickly reminded that clothes in SL are far better than nudity. Then we continued, touching on topics such as how much to budget for entertainment acts, crafting an announcement to remind and encourage use of the forum, https://forum.slcds.info/ so that everyone may stay informed of Events. There is a lingering problem that the SL Notification system is not reliable for offline notifications. We’ve decided to gather again for Government Question Hour on Sunday, March 15th at 9am SL. The location may be Lilith’s Pub, but we will confirm and send a landmark later. The meeting adjourned after an hour or so, after discussing the new builds in progress, which I hope to visit this week: Rose’s wharf build in Locus Amoenus and Mizou’s bridges.
