Small techie issue regarding the forums

During the last week or so I've encountered an intermittent tech problem when trying to access the forums. Using my shortcut to get here, I get redirected to Gwyn's https://autonomy.gwynethllewelyn.net/ The problem generally goes away within a few hours.

I contacted Gwyn about it, who suspected the problem was related to the ongoing http vs https changes. As usual, she's right. Once she gave me that hint, and being redirected to her autonomy page *yet again*!!, I tried typing in https://forums.slcds.info and successfully got here.

It shouldn't work this way. Gwyn is aware of the issue and will work out some sort of solution should the problem persist. But do know that if you end up on Gwyn's page instead of here, just add the HTTPS at the beginning of the address and you'll get here.

How strange! My shortcuts have continued to work with no difference. However, I still see the site as being insecure, without a certificate associated with https. Hmmmm.

I never had problems with my shortcuts too.

But out of curiosity I decided to have a look at Gwyn's website just now …
.. and I have to say I am impressed

I don´t understand much about website hosting but all Gwyn writes there makes total sense to me.

I normally check for new posts using the "unread" URL from my browser's history. I saw gwyn's address pop up once like 3 or 4 weeks ago and figured she was doing maintanence. I haven't seen it since.

I'm guessing the address in my history is the "https" version.

I read over Gwyn's blog -good for her! I got a similar deal (lower priced server that -in my case, cost a LOT more back when it was new) and I know that's helped me out a lot. What she said about sharing a server with a WOW server rung true too (quality of VPSes ranges widely).
